How do you know?Out of the frying pan, into the fire!
Dear Kimmio, save your sanity and don’t take Rita’s bait. How do you know?
We’re already in the fire. Canada didn’t start the Trumpster-Dumpster fire but maybe Carney is smart and strong enough to help us quell it. I’m sure he won’t be perfect, nobody is and it’s a big job. I couldn’t do it and neither could you (yikes). At least he’s not giving me pure evil vibes like Dump. And Polievre is giving me evil sidekick wannabe vibes, like Vance. He’d turn around and kiss Trump’s arse if he got in. Carney sounds like the adult in the room. It remains to be seen, what he’ll do, but I think he’ll do his best to steer us through the next four years. He’ll be sensible and emotionally even keeled which might instill more confidence and unity in people - that’s important especially now. I don’t think neoliberalism is the forever ideological answer for the world - I’m not the hugest centrist liberal fan - but I think he knows his way around enough to keep us intact as a country. I think we’ll survive and that’s what we have to do in order to thrive.
Will confess I didn't see Rita's post but this is wise advice (when it comes to taking the bait from anyone here).Dear Kimmio, save your sanity and don’t take Rita’s bait.
Of course. But there's nothing wrong with a heads up in some situations.I think we're all old enough to figure out who we want to talk to.
I felt a bit nervous when he talked about building a strong economy. Listening between the lines I heard threats to the rights of workers.

I read his book Values a couple year ago and was impressed but even by then some of what he was saying about how the world was approaching things like COVID and the CLimate Crisis were becoming out-of-date and he seemed overly optimistic about moving forward in a collective fashion. (Book 7 of 2023 -- Value(s): Building a Better World for All)I am also on the wait and see list. I have strong admiration for the guy's work as a central banker but that's a different beast from being a strong, good national leader.
0.3% of the Canadian population (129k/41M) voted to install Prime Minister Mark Carney.I am concerned that more votes were disqualified than counted.
My problems with Freeland include her Zionism and signs of support for Ukrainian fascism.I read his book Values a couple year ago and was impressed but even by then some of what he was saying about how the world was approaching things like COVID and the CLimate Crisis were becoming out-of-date and he seemed overly optimistic about moving forward in a collective fashion. I am uncertain, having not really paid a lot of attention to the leadership race. I have a feeling Freeland was punished for daring to challenge the official line. My preference would actually have been for Justin to step down 18 months earlier (and not have called the meaningless last election when he did) to allow a cleaner transition of power. At that time I saw Freeland as a viable replacement.
