When was the last time Canada actually elected a leader who sported facial hair?
Yes. It's time for change!
(I'm joking - Mulcair could shave, not shave, I don't give a hoot.)

Elected?
Alexander Mackenzie was PM from 1873-1878, winning the election of 1874. He sported a beard. Mackenzie Bowell (PM from 1894-1896) also had a beard, but wasn't "elected." He was one of the succession of Conservative leaders who became PM briefly after John A. Macdonald's death after the 1891 election. I think those are the only two PMs who have had a beard.
A little bit of trivia that I have never even thought about until today!
Conventional wisdom is that a candidate for prime minister should be clean shaven.

And what has conventional wisdom brought us by way of results? Hmmmmmm?
Justin grow a beard. Shoe-in. Trust me.
He could sport that goatee again. I'd be fine with that.Maybe grow his hair out a bit again...but...I digress. It has no bearing on my vote.
Just to clarify the terms:
There's no proposal of a "merger." That would be two parties becoming one. Like the Alliance - Progressive Conservative merger. Neither Mulcair nor Trudeau have even raised the possibility of a merger. Mulcair has said he would be open to a coalition government - in which both Liberals and NDPers would hold Cabinet posts and presumably the leader of the larger party being PM. Trudeau has said he'd work on the basis of issue by issue co-operation.
I see what you mean now re the difference between coalition and merger.Thank-you again.
There is a huge difference between trying to work with two parties in positions of cabinet posts, ie, a combined government. The concern for me is the overhead and challenges to open communication which would occur in a coalition.
Working in a minority government with co-operation has more probability in my opinion in our current structure of having successful bills and outcomes.
they all were.Who in eLLe of the biblical myth was harry?

Elizabeth May said the other night that she'd basically like the role of mediator and keeping the rest of them honest.Depends on who has arranged the outcome ... some quantum devil of six parts:
Works best after getting to know the purpose of the strange bottom end ... pure satyr? Tis a subtle solution to thought ... divined sects? They are not all that determinate at times and can cause irrational behavior ... indeterminate doings?
