Temperature wise, it's not bad here today. Supposed to hit 11 or something like that. Was cold earlier in the week and we were getting flurries even yesterday. Not getting the periods of rain they promised but that's not a big deal. Everything is nice and wet around here at the moment.

Quiet Friday. Plugging away at some work stuff. Sent Eid greetings to the Muslim branch of the family (son and his wife). It's also Persian New Year (Nowruz) but I forget if Pakistan observes that. I'm sure I asked her once.

(Oo, breaking news: There's beam of light coming through my window. Apparently the sun is making a guest appearance.)

Rae of hope as essence of BMR?

I have had a horrible, terrible, very bad day. Just one feckin' stupid thing after another. Spent an hour on hold this morning with PC Financial over disputed transactions on my MC, had to listen to a whole hour of the worst elevator music ever, and my card has had to be cancelled, and there's no guarantee i'll get my money back, also leaving me the work of fixing auto payments, and additional grocery funds required, and points missed out on. Was left with 10 minutes to gulp down breakfast and dress for work.

Got to work, 15 minutes in, PC Optimum system goes down, accompanied by the entire debit system and all "tap" capabilities, leaving the only options cash or "insert credit card"; so those with credit cards on their phone were out of luck. And do you know how many people don't know their credit card PIN?

The store was a war zone of abandoned groceries and very slow transactions. All of my customers were very nice about it, probably because I'm quite sure that it was obvious that my anxiety level was through the roof. It came back on line about 2 1/2 hours later.

Got home and the big guy decided to go wyrd about going to my daughter's for dinner tomorrow for inexplicable reasons. And once again, he's asleep in the living room, with the fecking TV blaring, and I'm not doing dishes to that horrible noise. If I hear another vacuous laugh track, I may vomit. Since he moved in, I have discovered how very important the noise background, or lack thereof, is to me.

A horrible terrible very bad day. Thank all the gods for wine.

Good Saturday morning! For those whose yesterday was rejuvenating and relaxing, we're off to a good start this season. For those fo whom yesterday was a bit of a disaster, we hope a nice-weather weekend will be a chance to relax, breathe, and recuperate. We gather round the Coffee Cart once again, for conversation, support, and solidarity, over tea, coffee, and doughnut holes, provided by our Wonderbaker. The coffee is freshbrewed, the tea water boiling, and the goodies are warm and delicious. All is ready and everybody is welcome. Come in and join in the chat!

Really ... it has been that good for some time ... as the expression goes ... so did the good times ... as everything is passE! Logical ora naught ... life is rather kinky ... not a straight thread ... even prayer bedes get entangled ... because of what's not normal. Some Dr produced a book about the myth of normal ... it just isn't so as space is quantum ... chance is mixed in ... at least on ancient bede ... thus we beded own believing we owned it!

What a conniption ... now there's quite the device !

Ah, are you having a nice weather weekend? Not here. Rain today at 3 degrees and turning into cold and snow tomorrow with forecasts of possible 20 cm Sunday into Monday end of day… my snowblower already retired into the shed….
Thinking of you, @BetteTheRed , it shows one more time how depended we made us on unreliable technology. I know my pin only because I haven’t changed it in 20 years…
I was visiting my friend yesterday, she is not a healthy person with very arthritic hands. So usually I have to shovel the cards when we play crib. I don’t mind but I thought I give her some independence and got her a card shuffle machine. She didn’t want it because it made noise. At the same time she has TV going all the time we play, which I find very distracting. So I guess its my turn to tell her I can’t do TV and crib at the same time….
I had to think about how we often get very ridgit when getting older. And how annoying this is for others. My friend tends to tell you to do something in a specific way- don’t use that plate but that, don’t set this there but there….it gets worse the worse she feels. Can’t say we had an enjoyable visit, I was not much use for her as she was for me….
Today I am enjoying a day of baby sitting. Will take her out in the mall for a dry indoor stroll…

Trained a "new" volunteer yesterday. He knows the hospital well, but can no longer push wheelchairs. We actually worked together in IT close to 40 years ago.

Trained another person a few weeks ago and now training another person next week.

So good to be helping to expand the number of shifts that can be covered by this volunteer role.

In the last 30 hours, I've picked up the daughter, toured two apartments and she's chosen one to live in next year, picked up Costco dog food and delivered it to my folks, skied hard this morning for an hour, packed up and drove to the Craigleith ski cross world cup where we watched Canadians finish second in men's and women's big finals, drove back to Waterloo to drop the girl off so she can finish a group project, then finally home, with a full tank of gas because I stole my wife's car for the trip.

I sleep now.

In the last over 30 hours I have been recovering. Major surgery lasted almost 4 hours on Tuesday. Lungs collapsed. Liquid diet ever since. But, thankfully, I am on the mend. Hospital staff is so kind and helpful. I’ve made a new friend. It turned out that the surgery was very necessary.

You win.

Sheesh. The lengths some people will go to.

There it goes that song again The Streak ... Alice don't look!

Some of us settle back on our heals and say: "why me?" It goes on regardless ... for logic we can never understand as consequence of not wishing to know ... its biblical! Can we ever catch-up?

D Suzuki has declared he did what he could about the environment and feels he failed ... a community, collective event ... as the powers hate us to gather anything? Few grasp rare events ... because of alien chemistry and relations ... power's declare mobs dangerous because of thoughts produced ... it is just how they are conjured ... if you can curry such adherence (tacky)! The glue of social change ... pithy ... often hollow ... leaves an emptying sensation.

@chansen; rest well some wraiths in the dark will come and recharge you with unknowns ... demons eh? Mysteries go on ... some with great terrors ...

Are terrors like war things that dog yah? Bull terriers ... badly expressed and pied up-on ... the tree that is! It grew because of the amines ... and other complexities ... life is like that! Sometimes we get our fill of extractions ... time out as tut*less crone? Some say toothless as the word changes for alien purposes ... literal devicing ... devas!

Thinking of you, Nancy, hope the hospital food is not that awful…..

Good morning, all! hope all is going well! The surgery had its moments, but good to know you are on the mend, Nancy. Skiing and university and dog food, oh my! Hope you could rest well after all that!
We gather around the Coffee Cart for our daily conversation-support-connecting session over tea, coffee and baked goodies. This morning the Wonderbaker has provided fresh bagels and various toppings and spreads, sweet and savoury. They do look good! The tea water is boling, coffee is freshbrewed, and bagels are toasted to taste. All is ready, all are welcome. Come in and join the chat!

Surgery: everything has need of a cut to set the thing bothering you ... out-there! Off-putting ... some folks that goo phoff take it improperly as they putt ur around in concerns they should have avoided ... thus Iran off't ... and no body knows!

Sorry @chansen. I guess I do have a competitive streak
Lol, thanks for taking that as the joke it was intended to be.

Take care of yourself. Stay inside. If you watch the ski cross world cup in Craigleith, it's on CBC Gem starting at 11:30 local time, about 45 minutes from now.

What I did from the hill yesterday was leave my phone on the live stream and watch the race in person, then the delay meant I could see the whole run on my phone as soon as the heat was over. Pretty cool.

We are getting more snow right now. I hoped that the warmer temperature would melt some snow off the road. It got sloshy but is still snow covered.

Pleased to hear the surgery was successful. The collapsed lung wasn't ideal but it sounds like it was recognised and dealt with. Do you have a drain tube?
I have found hospital staff to be helpful and kind (mainly).
