Just keep going....
I think they are calling for -27 windchill here over the weekend. I am hoping my elderly heat pump will manage and that we won’t get a power outage otherwise.

I'm great at doing things. I'm less great at listening to the opinions of morons. Especially if that moron outranks me.
Explain anything?
Greetings on a Friday morning! Ski events set for a frigid weekend, scooters stuck in snow or on speed bumps, low temperatures and lower wind chills, seems like good excuse to stay in. For those of you going out, stay warm and stay safe. Meanwhile, we meet in spirit round the Coffee Cart for the usual chat, support, and connection session, over coffee, tea, and assorted muffins to enjoy. The tea water is boiling, the coffee is freshbrewed, and muffins nice and warm and fresh. All is ready, everyone welcome. Come join in the chats!

Most people don't seem to realise the amount of prep needed for ski e vents. . It sounds loke you enjoy it.The ski cross event I'm working is a Saturday and Sunday affair. Saturday is calling for -22C and a windchill of -29. Sunday is a balmy -17/-24 in the morning. The temperature rises a bit through both days. We're starting around 7am to set the course. Should be done by 3.
Yay.
Currently we have a windchill of -48. It is faitly safe to assume that it will get a wee tad warmer later in the day.. I plan to stay home and make yummy things to eat.Cold enough fer ya?
Yeah, it doesn't get much more stereotypical Canadian than that question. We are basically going to be hovering today in this area at -14 to -16. It is actually getting colder later (the Environment Canada app flags it as an abnormal trend). Wind chill on top of that gives us -24 to -27.
And I probably need to give the driveway a pass. *Shivers*
Sounds like a good plan for frigid day.I plan to stay home and make yummy things to eat.
I don't understand truck drivers. A young friend was 'learning' the job with an experienced driver. Turned out the older guy was illiterate. I once followed a truck that ignored the HUGE signs saying the bridge ahead was CLOSED. and use the detour. He didn't and was stuck for hours after trying to turn around. On the access road out of our valley this morning:

This was sent to me this morning by another coach on our team. Happened right in front of him, obviously. With highways closed in the area, large trucks look for alternate routes. How a squiggly line on GPS looks like a good idea to a trucker, I'll never understand. This one will take a while to remove.
Looks like he tried to climb up, then the truck slid backward. It's steeper up ahead.
Bonus points for blocking the driveway of one of our athletes.
Ski cross is next level. All those features are shaped by hand still. Snow cats only get it roughly to shape. Most people don't seem to realise the amount of prep needed for ski e vents. . It sounds loke you enjoy it.
Explains a lot.A young friend was 'learning' the job with an experienced driver. Turned out the older guy was illiterate.
At least it wasn't an underpass that was too low. We have one in London that covered in signs and indicators and I think we still have incidents. And there's one somewhere in the US that has it's own webcam so people can laugh at the idiots crashing into it.I once followed a truck that ignored the HUGE signs saying the bridge ahead was CLOSED. and use the detour. He didn't and was stuck for hours after trying to turn around.
