Pick up a winter sport. I hear ski cross is relaxing.

In our younger days we skied cross country. . My partner and two kids raced for a few years - not my thing though.. 29 kms through the boreal forest was a great way for me to spend a few hours.
 
i have a fond memory of being about 4 months pregnant, in brand-new maternity jeans, cross-country skiing near Algonquin park on a beautiful sunny day when the snow was "wet".

I was being overly cautious , and so basically sat on my skis to go down hills.

By the end of the route, the jeans were fairly wet, and i was leaving blue streaks on those hills. Not just that, when we got back to the lodge, we laughed & laughed as my butt was blue from the die.

oh, fond memories
 
@Mendalla we do a hybrid meeting (so, in person & via zoom).
If you ever want to be a guest, you would be most welcome. Just let me know (or anybody else for that matter). We meet on mondays from 12noon to 1pm. (officially starts at 12:05)

Good morning! Welcome to the Ides of January. It's a snow day for schools and busses hereabouts, as winter has 'blessed' us with a bountiful snowfall. Would be a good time to do winter sports, assuming one can get out of the house. Fortunately the way to the Room is always cleared out. We can gather in spirit round the Coffee Cart for our daily chats over tea and coffee. The Wonderbaker has been busy, making bear claws for our indulgence. The tea water is boiling, the coffee is freshbrewed, the bear claws are warm and fresh. All is ready, everybody is welcome. Come in and join in the chats!

I don't think the weather is *that* bad out there, but people who are driving vehicles that aren't prepared for winter or don't know how to drive in winter themselves are going to clog up all the major arteries. I could go north no problem. No way am I driving toward the GTA today.
 
Actually, we are driving north tonight. I forgot. Zach has a PA day tomorrow.

I kinda like driving in snow. Makes things more interesting.
 
Cleared our driveway. Neighbour is away so cleared his. Three more doors down a woman was struggling to shovel in her pajama pants, which seemed like a poor fashion choice, so I cleared her driveway. She never cleared the slush at the end so I got a pick from my shed and chipped away.

Then my neighbour 2 doors down on the opposite side was struggling with her shovel so I cleared her driveway. She was very thankful and forced a $20 bill in my hand. Then I did the driveway between us.

Five driveways cleared, one frozen windrow chipped out. Made $20.

I suck as an entrepreneur.
 
Very windy today. Gusting to 100 kms per hour they are saying. Something smacked into our house but didn't go out to investigate. . It wasn't the branch that has been tapping for hours. I'm expecting to hear that some people lost trees! Ours are holding their own so far.
