How old were you when you noticed your first grey hair?

It's really not that important but I am curious. I know a few people who started getting stray grey hairs at around 30. I am in my early 40s and have just started noticing "okay, that one's not a blond highlight".

20 and then it became a white streak and then 40 it started going all white.
After one treatment hair fell out and came back in gray lol

As a kid. I have hairs of all colours on my head if I search hard enough for them. I haven't yet noticed any of that aged grey hair that has a different texture.

Me too because I was white blond as a kid, then it went darker - sandy/ dirty blond and I get highlights put in from time to time- but not for awhile - my hair is fine textured and I've noticed a couple that stand out and are stronger. And a few that look light blond but they're growing from the root so I know they're not old highlights. It's not at the stage where anyone else could notice a difference. It just kind of reminds me I'm getting older. Oh well. My husband has a couple of stray ones near his ears but he won't let me pluck them out. Lol. He couldn't care less.

Chemguy has lots. They are a little weird, as they occur in patches and aren't grey but totally lack pigment so it looks like he has bald spots, depending on how long his hair is at the time.

There was a girl who sat in front of me in one of my highschool classes who had grey hair coming in at 14 or 15. My parents were both in their later 40s before it was noticeable but I seem to remember my mom commenting about it in her late 30s - she had darker brown hair (but also light as a kid) so it stood out more I guess. Same with my dad. I don't know which side I would take after?

Actually I think my mom dyed it...until she was in her 50s. Then she let it grow out. Now she dyes it again. Actually, bleaches it. She's not interested in ageing. Lol.

I`ve been very fortunate . . . probably in my late forties. I am going to be 60 next month and I have some greying in my temples, but if I wear my hair `down`it is still hard to notice. The rest of my hair is still its natural colour. Something tells me this isn`t going to last for very long and in a few months I am going to have to start considering colouring.

Sounds like you are fortunate! Well, the good thing is that hair dye is a pretty simple solution if it's bothersome.

I doubt I'll be able to tolerate dye when it starts, so I'll be stuck with it. I would rather have natural grey hair and avoid psoriasis and eczema flareups, not to mention issues it might cause with swelling. I could see that contributing to laryngeal edema.

My little brother dyed his hair with Kool Aid when he was a kid. It lasted a few washes. Lol. But that's only if you want a colour like purple or green. Wouldn't be preferable for most mature women I don't think - but never say never. Lol.

I know henna is bad for being a contact allergen. My mom had a tough time with major scalp irritation, and she doesn't actually have psoriasis or eczema. She gave up dying her hair years ago. When she did do it, she found some were better than others, but all affected her breathing to an extent. That wasn't bleach, just dye.
Kool Aid probably would be fairly safe for me, but I doubt it would do the job :)

My natural hair color is darker than blond but not really dark. If I remember correctly my first grey hair showed up at about 55. Now there is more grey (more silvery actually) , but only about half has turned. It looks variegated right now - streaky! I have never colored my hair and don't plan to start now.

55!? You too are fortunate!

Ah well. My hair is shades of light brown to blond. Without highlights it's sandy, almost greyish/ taupe anyway without ageing. And especially with a few blond highlights still in it, only I can see the odd grey hair sprouting out. Even at that I have to look for them pretty closely in the mirror. I shouldn't have started!
