Could this define a Shadow ... or is that lost in delight of wiles ? Sort of like Greek words cast off of Olive Oil ... and I can't retain full grip of "M" ... you know "M" ... the root mean square? What a nard, or nerdish fat ead ...
 
weighing in on this thread a bit late. Four years ago I left AB. Last night I longed to be there. I'd be partying with my friends at for Rachel. The NDP will do great! As for the complaints about youth-it seems the good old white boys in suits sure did a poor job-time to give someone else a chance. In her 50s Notley is not that young. I've met Rachel a few times and our paths crossed at a variety of events. we have mutual friends. Those who are scared will get over it. It's a bit tough when the major newspapers are owned by the conservatives. Carry on orange!

Ummm, Have you seen the weather in AB? Yesterday was pretty nice, 16C. Today there are huge snowflakes falling from the sky and there's a pretty thick blanket of the white stuff.
People are blaming the change of government (actually, but jokingly).

It's incredible really. Next time I think something's hopelessly impossible, I'll just remember, "the NDP won in Alberta." :)

Just the fact that it happened is blowing my mind, still.
 
Even Edmonton Sun readers are more supportive of this than I would've thought. A few pissed off people but still more support than I thought. And the journalists, too, are slamming the PCs - normally a fiercely conservative biased paper - but today, they appear to be flipping too. I read the "Sun" papers in various cities, now and then just to "take the temperature" and get a sense of mindsets.
 
My area had over 59% turnout. I think that's pretty good as there were so many who were confused where to go. Plus when new to an area, some don't vote, I'm fuzzy but I'm pretty sure I skipped an election after moving here as Calgary was still my 'home'. Lots of new neighbourhoods, I know the polling station at the school was giving the wrong info. Chemguy had called me as he didn't bring his voting card to work and the website was spitting out conflicting info.
 
While the ndp may be a tough pill to swallow, the PCs had to be stopped. I don't think these provincial ndp will look much like the federal party.
There is no way they will be able to turn us into a have not province in 4 years.
It was time to empty the trough.
The kid who won my riding, I think, sells TVs. No experience. It's going to be like 50 kids lost in a corn maze for months. How much harm can they do?
 
Alberta is a beautiful province. My wife and I really liked the small town we lived in there for a time. Congratulations to the NDP. Sure hope they do a better job there then the Rae NDPs did in Ontario.

Maybe it'll turn out to be good. I guess the majority of Albertans voted with "we sure hope so".
 
They're not going to be making you wear hats with red stars and pledge an oath to Marx, like some people seem to imagine. Today's NDP is a centre party. Federally, and I imagine in Alberta, too.

I grow tired of the Rae slams. Rae was elected and then a major recession hit. To cope with that Rae did things that ended up ticking off people on both sides...but he was not responsible for the recession.
ANd yes in a recession the government of the largest province in the country is going to run a deficit.
 
When making the prediction of my riding, I failed to factor in the age difference. I viewed where I live now similar to my parent's riding when I was a child. That generational difference really is huge - in large part due to the factors I've mentioned already.
