I wonder if that move actually affects Trump’s polling rates positive or negatively. Is he really convincing people that this was unfair- while the whole world says it was according to the rules?

The MAGA and some elements of the GOP will always support Trump no matter what stupidity he pulls, but his approval ratings are in the tank suggesting most Americans don't buy it. Doubt it will be any different here.

In actual football news, Spain is up 1-0 with extra time almost over so looks like Portugal is out and Spain advances barring a last minute miracle.

EDIT: And that's a wrap. Spain is off to the quarter-finals to play the winner of tonight's USA-Belgium match.

There will be a lot of disappointment around here, too. I was kind of good either way with this match and Spain or England might be my pick going forward.

As for tonight's game: GO BELGIUM!!!! (and I'll leave it there)

Haha.

This is making me want to go to Seattle again. It’s been a long time. Not necessarily for soccer but because I like Seattle and wonder what the music scene is like now. However, not planning on going to the US in the near future.

It is cool to see Vancouver excited about the games. Mixed feelings about it. I hope it leaves a postive impact and not the really negative impact that the Olympics had on affordability.

Otherwise, I am not paying much attention now that Canada’s knocked out. I check the news and I like to see people from around the world in the streets having some fun. But I’m wondering how homeless people are managing.

It's a nice city in some ways, but I found the traffic to be brutal when we were there. We took an Alaska cruise out of Seattle, then rented a car after and stayed for a few days to see the city. Also drove out to Mount Rainier for a day, which is a really nice spot (drive was a bit hellish, though, with some hairpin turns that my rental car was not fond of).

I see one of today matches is in Vancouver: Switzerland vs. Colombia. I don't know Colombia as team that well other than being Latin American, they are likely heavily into the sport. Yahoo's World Cup site shows the Colombians as the favourite and I enjoyed a visit to Cartagena (the old town is a lovely old Spanish colonial city) a few years ago so I can handle them advancing.

The other match today is in Atlanta and pits Argentina against Egypt. I don't there's much doubt as to who is the favourite in this one. Egypt beating Argentina would be the upset of the year, esp. with Argentina's Lionel Messi in a tie for the tournament's top scorer with 7 goals in 4 matches so far.

Egypt is up 2-1 against Argentina?????? This is actually getting interesting.

EDIT: And now it's a tie. Messi scored his eighth of the tournament.
