Postmistress stopped here on her lunch break to look at some of mom's craft supplies - she walked out with 3 full bags and is happy as can be :)
 
A happy postmistress sounds like a good thing in these days of labour trouble at Canada Post. We seem to finally be caught up from the strike that happened while we were in Europe.
 
Next drama in AB is waiting to see what the unions will do in response to Danielle forcing the teachers back to work using the Notwithstanding Clause. LAST I heard they are going to focus on supporting the various petitions to recall MLAs. I will admit a tiny part of me wishes that we end up with a prov wide general strike of all the union workers just to show how deeply unpopular Danielle and her gang are. The petition to keep AB in Canada needed 294,000 signatures and ended up with 450,000+!!!!!

SOmething like 45 schools across the province are have students planning a walkout protest today.
I saw a FB post about a recall petition for our local MLA this morning.

That puts the recall petitions to 5 or 6 now around the province??
 
How many would need to be recalled to kill the government (i.e. create a minority situation so the opposition could bring them down on a confidence motion)? Here in Ontario, Ford has a massive majority (80 of 124 seats) so I doubt even a recall campaign could bring him down. And his aggressive stance with the Americans has probably helped him, if anything.

IT is not a large number, under 10 I believe. BUt I have strong doubts that even in ridings where the margin of victory was pretty narrow (and there are a number of them in Calgary IIRC) that the recall will actually succeed. THat said the Education Minister seems a little bit worried/shaken about the push to recall him.

Since Danielle's kicked two or three out of the party and they are now independents, I think it would only take about 5 successful recalls to get rid of the UCP leadership...that said, MOST of the party should be recalled, including the 6 "known" MLAs who are backing separation. Education minister really needs to go.

Just checked the Elections Alberta website officially only one (Education Minister) recall petition has been approved. THere may be others in the hopper though,

So Danielle's and the others must still be waiting approval.

In other news, the County has spent the LAST 3 days cleaning up the lot 2 doors north of me where the fatal fire was 2 (3?) years ago...the only thing left on the lot is 1 small shrub and they dumped MANY truckloads of dirt on it. Because they took out all of the trees, I can see the opposite end of the block from my house now!
