Been gardening and moving tree limbs since about 10 this morning, with a few breaks, and fueled only on tea and a yogurt. Just about ready to quit. One more bag of small limbs to finish and take out. Dragged all the big pieces to the front of the driveway. Arborist's wife, also my hairdresser, helped a lot bagging and trimming, but I've dragged it all out to the road. I shouldn't have sat down this last time, though.

Whatever happened to Dominion Day?
The name got changed somewhere along the line. Forget when it actually happened officially. Dominion of Canada Day would be most accurate but is a bit long for a holiday name.

EDIT: A quick Google with no AI involved tells me that it was in 1982, same year the constitution was patriated. I probably knew that at one time given I was 17 in 1982 so aware of this stuff. Aging brain, yada, yada.

Wishing you all Very Happy Tuesday filled with energy and joy!

Whatever happened to Dominion Day?

Life everything else ... something had to give so it changed ... something more to get over ... almost cultish it is!

Stop it called the gods ... thus the end ...

I thought,, Canada day might be a lucky one for me, so I went to Drive In Bingo (a weekly thing by the Lions). And I won $209. Which will be my “ gambling money” for future visits. I might take the Korean kids with me one night, if mother allows.

Koreans and easterners like the chance ... look at all the aliens they've taken a chance on! It is quite a spin as it all goes round ...

And all the talk around the world about more laws ... especially the ones that allow criminal activity to invade the houses of guidance ... so they become ideals of illegality! Indicating we do not know what we are doing ...

Even James Swaggart gave up the ghost of appearing to fight prostitution! All things are jimmied ... a test for mortals to see what's amuck ...

There it is the dirt ... fouling the essence ...

Good morning! Happy Wednesday morning! For family gatherings and fun, Canada quizzes, remembering when some of us emigrated to Canada, yard work and drive-in bingos, hope all had a great day! We gather in spirit round the Coffee Cart, to chat, to support, to connect, and deepen our community ties. This morning with our tea and coffee we have cinnamon rolls. The rolls are warm, the tea water is boiling, and the coffee is freshbrewed. All is ready, all are welcome. Come join the fun!

Went for groceries this morning and it's pretty quiet out there on the roads, etc. School is out of course. Early July is a popular time for vacations, too, I think.

This being a short week helps, too. I know the family next door took off last weekend but were home for Canada Day. I could hear the kids enjoying the pool. They have very loud, energetic children I am finding. Not sure how their poor dog puts up with it. Hopefully a kid-friendly breed.

Good morning. We enjoyed a nice afternoon with friends yesterday. Canada Day was a good excuse to gather. We didn't participate in the town's celebrations and managed to avoid any traffic associated with those celebrations.

It is interesting to see the term "Dominion Day" getting mentioned. We've been calling it Canada Day for over 40 years. It's time to retire the old name that celebrates colonialism. We need to remember the need for reconciliation and all that is related as we move forward not backward.

It's time to retire the old name that celebrates colonialism.
The problem is not the name of the day. The problem is that even post-1982, we are still officially the "Dominion of Canada". It is rarely used, but it is still enshrined in the Constitution. Until that is changed to something else, the colonialism is there. And I can't see that really happening absent us becoming the "Republic of Canada", i.e. ditching the monarchy.

Yes, we're still a Dominion. The monarchy is more figurehead than functional these days. The monarchy is changing. Canada is changing. As they both should. That doesn't mean we need to become a republic.

With a republic will the leader be a more dominating item of concern? Just another flaming example of what goes up ...

How to maintain balance without shaky activity? Aren't we brilliant to exhaust humanity this way?

So it goes ... and still ... we don't know any beta (2nd person)! Forget the 1st and 3rd ... they are too close to extreme subjective and the objectively out there ... objected to by the strong ones! God bless the gentile says the script ...

In a different note - what does the grandmother of the groom wear to the outside wedding? The invitation says Clothing of your choice.
