"Racketing on"? I responded to a question posed in the OP, then said that I wasn't interested in a debate. That's hardly "racketing on" Have a great day

For Jae and others who share his perspective, my original post was more of an argument rather than a straightforward question. That said, it does raise several underlying questions, such as:

Why do people interpret religious and secular texts so differently?
How does strong religious belief shape the way contradictions in sacred texts are handled?
Would looking at religious texts through a literary lens make them more or less meaningful?
What do these differences in interpretation tell us about human psychology and belief?

All I’ve done is open the door for discussion on these topics. The only real question, if you can even call it that, was this:
"Do you all think this approach could help us understand each other better moving forward?" if you are not open to any kind of discussion then it appears not.

THat is an interesting way of reading it... THough I seem to recall that the team behind the NIV tried to make choices to hide the contradictions in the text.
I'm calling GordW's bluff to see if he can provide even one example of the NIV removing a contradiction in the text by mistranslating a single verse.

You asked a question in your OP. I responded to it. I'm not much interested in having a debate with you. Have a great day

Thus a kind of weird fict ation ... close to seized fantasy! Believe nothing put down ... it'll take off like the profits ... costs will be incurred ...

Life is a give 'n take business when not equalized ... empires fall due primarily to lack of gentile governing ... the extremes both like harsh ... thus hard nut co CON Utes ... they come at you 2 ways ... from a fall and also a smack ... like opioids ... they can have doubled down consequences if over used!

The given is AD onus as hind at it our responsibility to control urges to empower ... it is simply beyond normal possibility ... humanity is in humanity like shrouded ... evil creeps!

Remember what you're prone to ... everything is for grabs ... thus crabs! Because of the exchange ... some bitch for reason and others have no urge to reason and thus the ones without soul ...

The thing is, Bette, there's just not much to debate. He absolutely believes there are contradictions in the Bible. I absolutely believe there are not. Where can we possibly go from there? On the plus side, I'm happy and thankful that you decided to take me off ignore :)

Aren't you glad that's fixed and no allowance for a god on the move ... thus packaged and sold in a myth ... like life on the Myra ... out there! Like a sacred sealed bunch of literature so no one will understand any other sides TU't. Allowing for some Runic intrusion what if the "t" is substituted for an "⌠" a half integral ... the other half is buried beneath the virtual horizon ... it happens when psyche leaves yah in a fit of passion.

Who suffered the emotional input? Thus it went ... skewed in 'elixical fashion ... the spin is on ... life is a dizzy affair learning about avarice and how to get around it like Đ' IHC .. often thick and stunned ... like thorns in the Black Locus ... a point ed issue! Sigmatic shuffle ... if seized it is hard to keep up or even follow at distance ... and yus feint ... cock aide fishing ...

Thus the fix at ED and loch applied ... water bound ... said to be a symbol of a support system that floats ... expect drift ... even if the seized doesn't know it like a tiny stone hurtling through a great expanse ... go duoph-EL! You expected Maji?

Not if stone walled and not even knowing what you've sealed up! There another one packaged ... ready for the trip ... and down they go ... lai doubt, or just doobie 'd? Did you know doobie was a wrapped bit? W/O doub*+ ... a shortened "T" ... resolution is beyond Mort ... a character in a book a streak of dead words?

How about a verse stating: "question all things" because you know a lot is laid out as a consequential streak ... smear in the Noch, Nacht, or dark Ness ... that's Ra ... sunshine captive in a tree as lignin or tannin ... not to b' eaten ... or thou will be black ended ... only certain animals can digest it ... does work as an emetic however ...

Confusing as study of most MEDI Syns ... synthetic? Artificial what? Non working solutions ... they don't think in that well ... experience required ... hard shells shut out everything ... that' sette ... ephemeral lodge ... shack in the forest? Purpose ... gist ET ... OHmy nous ... innocence departed?

I can't say because of oppression of free speech"
  1. Free press
  2. Free belief
  3. Free movement
All censured ... being dried for the fires ... they come as kerygma ... flames of the great circulating dragon ... may appear as some thing lyon as in times of rest! The dissonance ... once said to be Eris or Aris the messenger ... they disposed of him as the prodigal (waste)? It just how the physical goes down ...

Dip 'n as Ursa Major ... poled as a beef ... skewed? Cute Urn ... or Que Durn thing ... spun! The dirt we stand upon ... poesy?

Only if you put essence into it with spirit ... how it goes down ...

In the end someone will ask : "what's your story?" Thus we wonder ... awe some Liah ... about the question why are folk not sharper ...

Yes, GordW needs to be called for slandering NIV translators with no evidence.

Remember ... there is only one tome of knowledge in this whole world ... although sometime the air and Ares are deceptive ...

The example that was recently pointed out to me was in teh two creation stories to try and resolve the question of whether humanity was created before or after the animals (Genesis 2:19) . The translation choice (not necessarily a mistranslation but a choice as I origninally said) affects the verb tense. NIV says "Now the Lord God had formed" implying that the creatures had already been created, NRSV reads "So the Lord God formed" which suggests that they had not yet been created but were then created as a part of the finding a partner for adam as named in verse 18. Same video had other examples but I can't remember what they were off the top of my head.

The JPS translation of the Tanakh, the Jerusalem Bible, the KJV, and the Good News all agree with the NRSV.

Is not the bible as taken literal ... a dark, inky mess ... and still a mystery about what will emerge (evolve)? Thus the apocalyptic part takes us back to the anima L-Ike initiation ... vicious leaders???? reptilian brae in parts ...

I have an NIV study Bible which I consult occasionally. There is often a slightly different slant to the commentary i.e. compared to the Oxford Study Bible. Or the notes from the NET (available online)

This is what I notice more than differences in the translations. But that's just me.

I've never claimed to be a biblical scholar.

You make faith healing claims based on anecdotes, many of those anecdotes being conveniently far too old to scrutinize, and the more recent ones inexplicably lacking in documentation.

So yeah, your sudden need for evidence is a new requirement from you. You demand it from Gord but consider your own say-so to be above scrutiny.

You have no credibility here. Look around. Almost nobody believes you, yet you're calling us "naive", like that changes anything.

How about adding verses such as the added verses put in for Marks ending so it appears the women told others about the empty tomb(resurrection) instead of leaving it as originally written to show "they told no one" ....?
Or changing maiden to virgin?

Got to love the imagination ... once known as the abstract part of soul ... quite dark ... mystery or just enigma?

Powers strongly deny such scat ... but it does leave a wake ...

Neither of those are unique to the NIV. Most translations include the longer endings to MArk, usually with notes commenting on the discrepancies in manuscripts.
The translation of almah in Isaiah 7:14 has been up for debate for centuries. THe Septuagint (IIRC) scholars made it out as virgin in their Greek though most English translations choose something like maiden or young woman.
