Well I've just got over a severe bout with the flu and pneumonia the last 7 days. Throwing up 3 or 4 times a day even without eating anything most of those. Keeping water down was a challenge. I finally went to emerge and had an IV to restore fluids and an antibiotic, in what's called a Z pack. Doctor said it seems to be the only antibiotic that works for "Walking pneumonia" when it worsens. There's also often not a fever and if there is it's usually low. Had Xrays and blood work to confirm.
I went to Ingersoll Hospital because I thought I'd get in faster than Woodstock Hospital....and I did. I have to say I was extremely impressed with the nurses and doctors....sometimes those small hospitals are pretty attentive!
Anyway, still on the mend, and finally went out for a bit, just staying in the car, because of cabin fever, lol.
Hope everyone else here avoids it...not fun.

The cranberry lemon may assist your renal item ... tris? 3 demons? Coming, going and holding ... then the dash ... upholding?

Until the next rush ... water is difficult to carry ...
That's quite a poetic reflection. You're exploring the complexities of health and the challenges we face. The imagery of cranberry lemon and water's quite vivid. Let's keep supporting each other through these ups and downs, finding strength in the simple moments and the care we give ourselves

Sorry you got sick enough to go to an ER Sending healing thoughts your way.
I think the treatment one gets depends a fair bit on the doctor you get. Many of them are getting over tired and stressed and suffering a bit themselves. It is also too bad they don't all graduate from their training in the top half of their group!

Thanks Kay...the doctor I had was good and listened.....that's was enough for me. Not many listen these days.

First Sunday leading worship since December 8. We looked after our two grandchildren for four hours yesterday while their parents worked on packing for their move next Saturday.

@Waterfall --- sounds like a real challenge for way too long. I've heard of a lot of walking pneumonia lately. Plus stomach bugs, colds etc. Is it possible that the REALLY cold temperatures we are currently experiencing could kill some of those germs? Not sure that that is how germs work, but it would be a positive outcome of weather that is too cold for anything else.

Well I don't believe it's the cold that brings it on, more of a virus or bacterial infection. Most flues, colds, etc do seem to present themselves more in the colder months.
Fortunately they say most of the walking pneumonia is said to be mild from what I've heard.

Good morning! Flu and walking pneumonia, ER visits, watching grandchildren, leading worship, cold weather, and all the other things that arise, like the inauguration happening today, it all follows us to the Coffee Cart, for chat, for support, for whatever conversation it creates. We do this, of course, over fresh brewed coffee, nice hot tea, and cupcakes of various kinds. Come in and join the conversations when you can! All is ready, everyone welcome!

Remember water supports a whine or gurgle ... and in my industry they interpreted water as something that supported and reflected sol ... in there some obscure reason "fore being" that's a head of becoming ... others se it a bit of a behind as they were in a rush ... lot-us in still waters? Blossoming? Thus the swell of info ... occupies space! Because it is said to be nothing by the alternate space ... this may be said to consume a lot 've the former ...

Plato was fascinated by the forms BS can take ... and declared there was some thing beyond that and thus the travail ... work it out as good as any seized mathematician ... all related to the vasal vagas syndrome ... a difficulty in the brain stem! Epistemology ... just another word going down the tube to a great many folk that have no cares about anything ... nothing!

So many points and Pics to connect ... dashing?

I forgot how much fun coaching is. First race tomorrow afternoon.
I've spent the last 8 years or so driving my daughter to races, where I have to sit on the sidelines and cheer. The drive to the race has become ritualistic by now. When it's her and I in a truck at 7:30am driving to Collingwood, we crank the tunes. It got her fired up to compete. It just sorta set the tone.

Yesterday, I drove alone. That sucked more than I expected. I need my co-pilot.

But once I got there, I went from spectator to coach mode. This part was way better than being a parent. I get the kids going. I send them up the hill and lead a little warmup run. I ask them what sort of coach do they want at a race? Do they want the zen master? Do they want the hype man? The general consensus is they wanted calm before their run, and an explosion of volume as they left the gate. I was all ready to oblige, when the request came in that we needed to provide a referee to the course.

A referee in skiing is an experienced coach or official who can overrule a gate judge. We station gate judges every 10 gates or so in slalom. They are responsible for filling out cards with a gate number and a drawing of how the athlete failed to navigate that section of the course. Some disqualifications happen in the blink of an eye in slalom, and at this level there is usually one dispute per race, minimum. I hoped I could avoid that. I could not.

On the first run, racer 51 came down fast, but was a little out of control. I was positioned almost perfectly to see him straddle a gate (one ski ether side of a turning gate). That's an immediate DQ. But it happened so fast. So, so fast. I noted it. I asked the gate judge in charge of that section if he saw it. He did not. My heart sank. I'm gonna have to DQ a kid based on what I'm almost positive I saw, but I doubt the kid even knows what he did because the gate seemed to catch his boot at maybe didn't even hit him in the groin as usually happens.

Then word came up from a gate judge below that he saw the same thing I did. That was reassuring. The gate judge in charge of the flush (three vertical gates in a row) could not make it out because it's really difficult to judge depth when you're straight across from a gate.

Making it worse, the athlete was on on the provisional podium in second place.

Normally when someone straddles, they admit it and ski out. This racer never did. That's his right, but man, I'd put money on that straddle. I just hope I wasn't wrong.

I had to go down to the finish and bring my only disagreement to the attention of the other race officials as part of the jury. As referee I can overrule a gate judge, as I did the gate judge who was responsible for the straddled gate, but the card of the gate judge below who caught it made sure that no one else in that room even questioned me.

So the medal ceremony comes around, and number 51 and his team assumes he has a silver medal wrapped up. When they skip him, a cry goes out that the results were wrong. The guy handing out the medals is perplexed. I know him. I go over and whisper the situation in his ear. He says the athlete can protest, but those are the results.

And then I got to drive back through a snow squall to get the fam. Interesting day.

Our furnace has some sort of malfunction. It runs, it heats air, the fan does it thing and then it stops! Not enough time doing what it is supposed to do. We supplemented with electric heaters over the weekend and will try to be the first people on the phone to the repair guy this morning. Care needed to be taken or a breaker would flip. Overnight we had the predicted -45 wind chill.

There seem to be plenty of viruses and bacteria making people sick in this community. Likely they vary so I just call them germs! So far we haven't fallen victim and hope that continues. I remember taking a 'not quite well but not really sick' kid outside in the cold. It always seemed to get rid of the vague symptoms that didn't warrant a medical appointment.

Likely the flame sensor. Furnace comes on, but if the flame sensor isn't detecting a flame it will shut everything down. if you can find it, a very light sanding with fine sandpaper could fix it.

Similarly, could be a plugged filter or faulty air proving switch, so when there isn't sufficient measured pressure provided by the fan, the system shut down.

The plugged filter is probably something you've already checked. The flame sensor could be a diy job if you're handy.

Gosh Kay - hoping you and your water pipes stay warm enough! That is VERY cold weather - and of course that's when the furnace acts up!!

This woman was young and maybe fairly new.
When young we're so certain we know everything! Your story reminded me of a moment in hospital when I was with a patient. We were interrupted by a young nurse who came in to give an injection; pt wanted it in different location than usually given; nurse continued to try (several times!) to give it where they usually did. Pt was becoming agitated. I calmly commented to nurse "You do NOT have the patient's consent to give the injection in that location". Invoking the 'c word' finally got their attention.

I have a few blood draws a year due to my diabetes. My veins are not great. A technician very kindly told me a few years ago that they can easily use a butterfly needle (used for kids) in my hand.

Ever since I have requested a butterfly needle. Usually they say okay. Once in a while one of them will want to check out my arm before agreeing. If it is ever proposed to use the inside of my elbow I will not give consent. Thankfully this has not happened.
