That's fascinating. Can you share any further examples from well known poets
Examples of puns in literature include1234:
  • William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare plays on the meaning of the word heavy as both a descriptor for weight and sadness. He also uses lie as both untruth and lying down.
  • Oscar Wilde, The Importance of Being Earnest. The play’s biggest pun is in the title, as the name Ernest sounds like the adjective earnest, meaning sincere or serious.
  • Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Carroll uses puns on words such as tale and tail, and mouses and houses.
  • Charles Dickens, Great Expectations. Dickens puns on the word capital as both money and punishment.
  • Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita. Nabokov puns on the name Humbert Humbert as a repetition of the French word ombre, meaning shadow or shade.

You'e welcome. and I apologize if I came across as trying to troll you. J a,lso apologize for my accurate guess that you are a Tyndale grad.
It was obvious to me that you didn't take Greek and Hebrew and I think the main advantage of seminary as opposed to Bible school is the courses in Greek and Hebrew you take in seminary to allow a closer reading of Scripture that facilitates deeper practical application, as Greek-immersed commentaries on specific NT books illustrate. I was put off by your claim that you attended the "best" seminary in Canada, and so, I overreacted. I'm sorry.

As fascinating as names and literary references may be, it seems they have little to do with the topic of the thread (reminder: Christ Centered Politics). Let us go back to the topic at hand. Someone can always start a new, separate thread for the discussions that have happened in the last few pages of this thread, under an appropriate forum. Thank you.

What is semi n' Ares? Agape between what's up and what's down; explaining the divide and conquer mode!

It seems a lot of destructive activities come out of these schools ... devilfish! There may be something more profound there than is available to the superficial appearances ... its kin deep ... then there are bugs and tics ... the opposing kind!

It was interesting to see how unsafe and Mystic persisted in providing examples of political behaviour that is anything but Christ- centered. The attacks in various forms on myself and others that were focused on their own egos revealed their focus on their own assumed importance. Politics is not limited to government politics. WC2 provides a great example of politics in group dynamics and their complexity.

Just as I entered ministry to serve, not for status, the kidney donation became part of a personal bucket list about 16 years ago as part of my life long commitment to make a positive difference in the world. It is just part of who I am. I am confident that Christ does not care if someone can read Greek or Hebrew or debate the fine points of a particular passage in the Bible. What matters is how kind we are. Long passages that are less readable than what Luce posts and with less poetry reveal a compulsion to believe they are right rather than they are in right relationship.
