If you want to be technical yes...but there is this strange thing in the US of appointing a ___________ Czar to solve some seemingly intractable problem over teh last few decades (first one I seem to remember was a "Drug Czar"). I wonder, do those appointments require Congressional Approval like the Cabinet does? Or is this another way to do an end run around Congressional oversight/Constitutional checks and balances?

From what I understand, some require the regular process and some don't. I'll see if I can find more information.

I have always found that to be a rather grandiose title for what is basically a puffed-up civil servant. I forget if they require congressional approval but with the GOP owning the Senate and no filibuster on ratifying appointments, I can't any not passing unless he gets into a fight with the new Senate GOP leader like he used to with Mitch McConnell.

In raw numbers, irregular crossings along the U.S. border with Mexico substantially outpace those over the Canadian border. However, human smuggling activity from Canada has risen sharply over the past two years, particularly along the border between eastern Ontario, Quebec, New York and Vermont.

Tom Homan, named Sunday as the official in charge of all U.S. border issues, said in a television interview that he expects there will be "tough conversations" with Ottawa about the situation along the Canada-U.S. border.

"The problem with the northern border is a huge national security issue," Homan told 7News in Watertown, N.Y., a community some 40 kilometres from a crossing into eastern Ontario. Homan is from the area.

He said "special interest aliens" — individuals from countries the U.S. says sponsor terror — use Canada as a gateway into the U.S.

"Because they know, [there's] a lot less, fewer officers here," Homan said. "It's one of the things I'll tackle when I'm in the White House."

Hegseth went to Princeton and Harvard, served overseas, is an Army Major, and was awarded two Bronze Stars.

NBC News just confirmed that GOP will retain control of the House--the first time they have controlled both the House and the Senate in 20 years.
 
Looks like the dog caught it's tail. Whatever happens is now squarely on them. They even have the Supreme Court, and will for at least a generation.

The fear is people will suffer. The rich will get tax cuts and trickle down economics will continue to mostly not even trickle down. Education will be gutted. Disabled and disadvantaged kids will bear the brunt of the cuts.

Or maybe I'm wrong. I'd love to be wrong.
 
Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will now lead the new Department of Government Efficiency. Does anyone else smell George Orwell in that title?

A Fox weekend TV host has been assigned the role of defense secretary. Sure he was in the military. Is he actually qualified?

I know what he's done......does that qualify him to run the defence dept.?
I didn't know that they compared lung capacities of healthy women or bone density. Did they do that before the women got involved years ago?
Somebody should give Netenyehu a heads up about his armies deficiencies.

A Cybertruck passed us today in Montreal. Ugly looking beast.
 
Just four years ago Tulsi Gabbard ran for president as a Democrat.

4 months ago, Tulsi Gabbard was placed on a domestic terror watchlist by Biden/Harris.

Today, Trump appointed her to serve as Director of National Intelligence.
