What does any country win by using nuclear weapons? It would guarantee retaliation....so what's to gain? other than causing fear among ordinary citizens and instilling a reason for military spending and building armies?
Creating fear within one's own country enables nationalism and obedience to governments and reasons to fight and kill others to protect themselves.

What does a country lose by not having nuclear weapons? Possibly, their country.

The basic idea of nuclear weapons now is to have them as a deterrent and never have to use them.

The wildcard in all that is the presence of crazy people, and this includes religious nutcases, who might detonate one to, say, bring about the end of the world on purpose, because God, etc.

My point is that any country that uses nuclear weapons will get them right back aimed at their country. It's a no win and a form of suicide.
But sure, nutcases change that game, But I believe nuclear codes involve 3 people to agree before they push the button to strike or retaliate?
Unless Trump makes it so he doesn't have to answer to anyone.
 
I assume military leaders are conferring as we speak to coordinate what to do when Trump orders them to do something illegal.

I also assume spies and other assets, especially in Russia, are being recalled or leaving to save themselves.

Sadly he probably won't get charged. The 17 year old may consider it consensual or act as if it is. Apparently his buddy who has been a witness has proven to be a liar or something. He did quit Congress ahead of the release of the ethics report. That says a lot. He probably knows it won't be good. Of course, time will tell.

Pete Hegseth is also accused of sexual assault. Doesn't the Trump team do any vetting? And Speaker Johnson is insisting that the Ethics Committee Report not be made public. Can't he see the horrible optics of that request?

It's nuts. But then how can they when the president elect is an adjudicated sex assaulter? It seems that being some kind of sex abuser is a prerequisite for some of these jobs. It's messed up.

The party of family values. Riiiight.
 
The American people are getting what they have voted for. Unfortunately, the rest of the world will suffer along. I wonder if there is any legal way to shorten those 4 years of chaos.
 
The editor of Scientific American has resigned because of her observations of the professed ignorance.

The common folk are not supposed to talk about observations of questionable functions ... so be quiet all you Christians ... do not complain of corruption ... it just isn't nice to the badly corrupted by power!

She may not really have resigned as this may be a vicious rumor in the medium ... you just cannot believe anything ... for obvious reaon unless blind to the reasoning function as f ... and that is a questionable icon ... as funk goes ...

Americans were stuck between the proverbial rock and a hard place. Neither major party candidate was electable. If they vetted Trump, they found out he's a consistent liar and a convicted felon. If they vetted Harris, they found out she's both pro-weed and pro-abortion. What should they have done?
