Is the US politics thread blowing up, could someone tell me? I avoid it completely because I find it toxic. But I am curious.

Not bad so far, actually, at least this morning. But I just took a quick look. I mostly stay out of it, too. Just check in now and then.

It's weird. First couple mornings after the time change, I wasn't bad but today I woke up c. 5 (the old 6) and couldn't really get back to sleep. Since I am usually a 6-6:30 person, that really seems like "falling back" issues.

I just made a comment as did ch. That's all I've seen. I'm done with it.

It's a sad day. We move on though.

Am of mixed emotions after the US election.

I'm concerned because I feel the Canadian and South Korean economies will suffer. And because America's likely to change the arrangement it has with South Korea whereby some American troops are stationed here.

At the same time, I'm happy for Americans because I feel they made the right choice for themselves. And because I feel their economy will improve (important to me since I have a sister and her kids who live there). And I'm very happy because the unborn will be more protected than under what Harris would have done. And because a particular Democrat whom I really dislike (not talking about Harris) will now I hope and trust, be shown the [exit] door.

At the same time, I do empathize with Kamala. She's an ENTJ and they in particular can find it very hard to take when their plans go up in smoke

I'm finishing up a bright colourful shawl I've been knitting. It's scrappy, which means whatever colours of leftover yarn I had, I used. It's sort of like Joseph's coat of many colours. :) I started thinking I would donate it to the prayer shawl basket at church. I've decided to send it to a friend in Chicago who has had a bad year and who is scared by the results of the US Election. She needs cheering and a warm hug. This is a knitted hug that will be heading east.

I'm feeling more tired today. That's probably partly due to my meds. A day of rest to finish this shawl is what's in order. I can be productive and a sloth at the same time.

Ridiculously warm again here today. Just back from the dentist. I do not like my hygienist. Don't know what to do about it. She's one of those over-loud, over-"bright" types with a kindergarten teacher sorta voice.

Is there more than one hygienist in the practice? If there is more than one you could request a change. If there is only one you are stuck unless you change dentists.

There are lots. It's a fair-sized practice. I simply avoid hurting feelings to my own detriment at times.

I had to cancel my dentist appointment that was scheduled for yesterday. I used to have a hygienist that I loved. She had been practicing for many years and lived in a boat in the marina. She understood alternate living spaces. She moved to another clinic. The woman who replaced her is young and seems fairly new. A little too chirpy and such for my liking. She also tended to act like this was my first cleaning. Give me a break. Not to mention getting my teeth cleaned is not the worst health care related procedure I've experienced, especially in the past few years.....

I find that new healthcare professionals can be like that. My current family doc was pretty much just out of residency when we got on with him and he was a serious pain to deal with for a time. Didn't take much account of patients' actually concerns and experience. He is mellowing out and getting better now (3 years since we started with him).

Yes when my favourite GP up north moved away, he was replaced by a fairly new physician who was also new to Canada from South Africa. He prescribed Flexeril as an anti-inflammatory. I believe he would have realized his mistake had I known the drug (tissue) name rather than the "Kleenex" name. He tended to use the word "dear" too often. I just didn't like him. To be fair, the other doctor was a hard act to follow. I was able to switch to another doctor in the practice. I really like my current GP. He's also South African and has been practicing long enough to be experienced and is young enough to still seem to enjoy his work.

I heard that this morning there was a shouting match in the other office of our team. Turned out, on of the team members is a Trump supporter. That surprised me and I said “ and I thought he was an intelligent man..”. But then, after thinking about it for a while, I realized that he had some quirks that spoke for being a strong believer in other things- his diet is strictly without any carbs and he always boils his water in the electric kettle with the lid off- because the lid is made from plastic…- so a certain amount of tunnel vision…

I had a hygienist once who was downright nasty. She always found fault with me and even questioned if I was a drinker. (I had used mouthwash). I decided that I would just glare at her in an unfriendly way the next time I went but then....I got a new hygienist who went to school with my middle child and is as normal as can be. I quite like her, and she doesn't openly find fault with me.

Just plugged in the coffee urn. I am up early today because I haven't adjusted yet to the time change.

Anyone think the adjustment gets harder in the senior years? I had fun celebrating my birthday here in the Room a few weeks ago. Didn't tell you it ended in 0. Yes, that's right. I am 70.

Happy 70th, p3! I'm also in a 0 year, being 60. As for the adjustment, I stopped doing that 6 years ago
