The blessing of descendants is really emphasized. My parents were still alive when my granddaughter was born. They were so delighted to see that baby!!! I just can't tell you how important it was for all of us.It's interesting that when God makes a covenant with Abraham and his descendents, that the promises have to do with long life, great wealth and posterity....there is no mention of an afterlife or the promise of being with God forever in heaven if they are obedient.
