Jesus was just talking about the mouth speaking according to what is in the heart. But you are right about actions being more significant than words.

The good person out of the good treasure of the heart produces good, and the evil person out of evil treasure produces evil
And the vast majority of humanity who are neither? Who live day to day and might do some good and some evil along the way? I mean, honestly, even the saints (MLK, Jr) and devils (Hitler, Stalin) of humanity aren't purely at one end or the other even if they incline more to the extremes than others. Any division of humanity into a simple dichotomy misses the glorious complexity of being human. Not sure that's where Jesus is really going with this, but wording it this way certainly lends itself to the people who do.

If we try to pick fruit from thorns or brambles, we will only injure ourselves. Our attempts will have no effect on the prickly plants.
Where does that leave something like raspberries? Ever tried handling a raspberry bush (other than the berries themselves)?

I think the thorns and brambles might be incidental to the story. Jesus was making the point you pick the fruit from the plant which produces that fruit. You don't look for it elsewhere.

However, with Jesus and his parables, who can know?

Agree completely. But this might be an example of Jesus exaggerating to make a point. You would expect Jesus to understand that people have their strengths and weaknesses. He saw this with his own twelve disciples after all.

Our good fruit comes from the good in us. The bad fruit comes from the bad in us, usually from trauma or deficiency

Did Jesus have any particular reason for mentioning figs and grapes? Fig trees and grapevines show up frequently in scripture. Wheat, too. Maybe these were simply the three most common harvests in the time and region.

43 “No good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit;

Staying with the context of above verses --which involves Judging others ---- I say --this compares unbelievers to believers in what they say and how they act toward others in their respective groups -----

scripture says ---

Matthew 15:11

Amplified Bible
It is not what goes into the mouth of a man that defiles and dishonors him, but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles and dishonors him.”

I say ---What is in the heart the mouth speaks -----

In Matthew 7 ---we see these same verse----about False and True Prophets

True and False Prophets

15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them.

17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

Is there any relationship in this story to the fig tree that Jesus withers, simply because it wasn't producing fruit (out of season)?

For people do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they pick grapes from a bramble bush. 45 The good person out of the good treasure of the heart produces good, and the evil person out of evil treasure produces evil,

my view
This is about works ---this is about gathering and picking --

you can't harvest good fruit from thorns and a bramble bush ----this is referring to an ungenerated person trying to bring forth good works of righteousness acceptable to God ----which is futile ----

God gets the Glory for all good fruit and works done by the generated person ------

Generating a person sounds like creating a character for a roleplaying game or something.

That's pretty much what I found when I searched for the term. :)

"No such person exists" is a thing, too. From what I can tell, this happens when random images of faces are combined.

I have never heard these terms. I am guessing saved and unsaved but please clarify.
your guess is right--------- but my mistake --it should be Regenerated not Generated ----

Another word for regeneration is rebirth, related to the biblical phrase “born again.” Our rebirth is distinguished from our first birth, when we were conceived physically and inherited our sin nature. The new birth is a spiritual, holy, and heavenly birth that results in our being made alive spiritually. Man in his natural state is “dead in trespasses and sins” until he is “made alive” (regenerated) by Christ. This happens when he places his faith in Christ (Ephesians 2:1)

Hello Everybody. Here is Luke 6: 43-45
And yet God uses the most unlikely people sometimes.
