"Therefore, I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you (jews) and given to a people who produces the fruit of the kingdom (Matthew 21:43)." R=This marks the shift to Gentiles like the Syrio-Phoencians, Romans, and Greeks.

The Blind leading the Blind ------

This is such a Great awaking Statement ----why ?

Because The Pharisees who were the teachers of the Word had a vast influence over the Multitude they were preaching to ---and they should have been very aware and upset if any other Doctrine were to be preached ----so as to lead their Multitude down the wrong path -----into a pit or ditch

But as we know the Pharisees themselves were Spiritually ignorant and in error of their true understanding of the Word which means they were Spiritually Blinded to their Spiritual Knowledge of the Word -----therefore Because they were unable to comprehend the Spiritual content of what the Word was presenting they were unable to convey that to their Multitude --which lead them both down the Rocky a road to falling into the dark pit or ditch ------

So you have the Spiritual Blind ---leading the Spiritually Blind ------and both are doomed to eternal life ----

This is important as it is very Relevant for today -----Ministers --Preachers and Pastors are looked up to by their Church as being Godly and being able to get them to the Right destination by Preaching Spiritual truth ------and that is definitely not being done today ---there are many look a like Pharisees in today's World who are sending themselves and their multitudes to their pit of Darkness and they don't care ---they skirt around the true Spiritual meaning of the Word and put their own Spin on it or they Sugar Coat the Scripture to please the people ----Which is what the Pharisees did ----and Jesus pulled no easy punches on telling them the errors of their ways ----Jesus was very Critical of all leaders who lead their Flock into the pit of darkness when He walked this earth -----

We are to rightly Spiritually Divide the Word of God -----and if you can rightly Divide the Word --you can wrongly divide it ----many leaders in today's world are Spiritually the Blind --leading the Spiritually Blind ---

We can't be certain Jesus was talking about the Pharisees here but it seems very likely to me.

The blind guides in Matthew's Gospel (Matt 15:14) were definitely the Pharisees.

Jesus prophesies the Pentecost outpouring of the Spirit in Mark 9:1:
There are some standing here who will not taste death until they see that the kingdom of God has come in power."
What does Jesus prophecy for Pentecost? "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you (Acts 1:8).
What's the context of this promise? Jesus "speaking about the kingdom of God (1;3)."
Pentecost is the birthday of the church qage, not an event signaling the end of the world.
I don't read Mark 9:1 as a prophecy of Pentecost at all. Jesus has just talked about the Son of Man coming in the glory of his father with the holy angels. (Mark 10: 38).

Of course, your interpretation might be that Jesus has switched topics here.

40 A disciple is not above the teacher, but every disciple who is fully qualified will be like the teacher.

my view
This to me is teaching ----that a Disciple is suppose to be the Student and the Teacher is to be fully Qualified to Spiritually teach the Student how to become a fully qualified Spiritual Disciple ----The Disciple should not be more Spiritually qualified than the Teacher ------

So if the teacher is spiritually qualified and is teaching Spiritual truth to their future Disciples and is also walking their talk ---then the Student will take on the Character of their Teacher ---they will think like their Teacher ---the Teacher's wisdom will become the Student"s wisdom ---the Teacher's ways will become the Student's ways ------so they will be like their Teacher in character thought and deed ---

Is there a certain quantity involved with Pharisees ... like heaps of Mammon? This seems to have an effect on who gets to be leaders in different stoic positions ...

Do you think the Apostle Paul was such a student?

Do you think the Apostle Paul was such a student?
Paul was taught by Jesus so yes he was such a student in my view ---God doesn't make mistakes ---so Paul had God as his Teacher -----also Paul was set apart by God before he was born for his roll in God's plan as indicated in scripture here -----

Galatians 1 AMP
11 For I want you to know, [d]believers, that the gospel which was preached by me is not man’s gospel [it is not a human invention, patterned after any human concept].

12 For indeed I did not receive it from man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a [direct] revelation of Jesus Christ

15 But when God, who had chosen me and set me apart before I was born, and called me through His grace, was pleased

I say -----So Paul had the best Teacher there is ----and became a great Teacher himself ----

The version of the Bible we are using describes a relationship with Jesus as disciple/ teacher.

I asked Bible Gateway to show me the verse (Luke 6: 40) in all versions it has available.

From most to least frequent:

Disciple/ teacher
Student/ teacher
Disciple/ master
Pupil/ teacher (used twice)
Apprentice/ Master (MSG)
Follower/ teacher (NLV)

Interesting bit of trivia as we consider the nature of a relationship with Jesus!

Can a modern Christian be such a student? If the Risen Christ is still with us, at least in spirit, it should be possible in some sense, should it not?
I think it depends on the interpretation of what we perceive a modern day Christian to be ---

Just saying your a Christian doesn't mean you are connected to God in Spirit ---

In order to be a Disciple today a person needs to be reconnected to God in Spirit ---

Be Born Again

Say a person wanted to reconnect to God in Spirit and Be Born Again. What would be required?
you have to be adopted back into God's Family -----

Receive Jesus as your Lord and Saviour to have your sins Forgiven as it was He who paid the sin debt for anyone who wants to receive Him --and be indwelled by the Holy Spirit so your Human corrupt Spirit is changed to be Holy and acceptable to God ------only then are you reconnected to God -----

Sin and Iniquity separates us from God -----without receiving Jesus --we remain sinners ---

Okay but how does such a person go about getting adopted back into God's family?

How does one receive Jesus as Lord and Savior? I am asking about the specific steps to be taken.

I have certainly encountered the notion of repentance because Jesus often called for it

"Every disciple who is fully qualified will be like the teacher." This seems to set the bar for being fully qualified as a disciple.

Repentance is the first step ----saying and realizing your a sinner and that you can't save yourself is the first step ----

You have to be Drawn by the Father to want to come to Jesus ---Sinners have no desire to come to Jesus ---

John 6:44

Amplified Bible
No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him (giving him the desire to come to Me)

You have to have Saving Faith inbirthed in you ----that is having faith in the unseen realm not in what you do see in this physical realm ---

This Saving Faith comes from Hearing the Word ---who is Jesus ----after your Drawn by the Father who opens your ears to Hear the true message of the Word and your eyes to see with the right lens and changes your heart to be receptive to the Word -and opens your mind to grasp the message ---then Saving Faith get inbirthed in you every time you hear the word

This is why Jesus spoke in Parables some heard and grasp the message and some didn't ----God the Father knew who would be receptive to the message and opened their hearts ---ears ---eyes and minds to receive it ----

Then through this Faith you believe --that is -adhere to and trust in-- that Jesus shed His Blood for your sins and was crucified and died and was resurrected and then your saved and immediately the Holy Spirit comes and indwells in you changing your Corrupt Spirit to be Holy and then your acceptable to approach God -----your Spirit man has been changed and this reconnects you to God

Hope this answers your question -----
