I don't know about the 7 heavens. Did I read somewhere that souls ascend through the 7 heavens?

The three heavens reflect the NT period's understanding of the universe. The first heaven is the earth's atmosphere. I think there is even a determined distance it extends.
The second is the stars and planets.
The third is the dwelling place of God i.e. ruling over it all.

Or so I have read. There could well be other explanations

Yes, definitely different views...I believe the one I presented is more universalist.
Now in the one you mention, then Paul would have been caught up in the dwelling place of God.

When we read Revelation, should we ponder what is really meant by heaven and hell?
There is a lake of fire and sulphur in this week's BPoTW. I am reading it as a place where the evil ones are destroyed rather than punished.

Heaven is emerging for me as a place for rest and waiting prior to the Second Coming..

One can only hope, that would be nice.
Doesn't Corinthians also give us another view?

In Dante (so Renaissance/late Medieval Catholicism) Hell has nine circles aligned with various sins and punishments. Not sure about Purgatory and Paradise. I only read Inferno.

I lean towards a universalist view of salvation which includes the opportunity for reflection, remorse and refinement.

I think it is possible that some souls will refuse the offer of salvation however. These could be the ones that get annihilated in that lake of fire and sulphur.

Makes sense

Interesting, in Jesus' time, the general rabbinic view was that no one spent more than 12 months of torture in Gehenna....
Wonder how they came to that conclusion?

This parallels some of the thoughts about Muses ... all 9 included as IX, or even Ж ... KHE to the gathering thereof in some ancient tongues ... mores to the stuff we should know but don't!

Psychotic is a medical term that shouldn't be tossed around like this IMHO

What else to do with thought as those with great desires, wishes and wants have nothing to do with such ghosts ... it grows cynic all ...

Mores to bounce off the vast Whal ... ultimate field! Some traditions say that the psychotic state is like Ares or Eire ... light in tec'ture? No emotional baggage ... there are more light stuffs in heaven that we can gather with our limited knowledge of this state of mind ... that's Mort!

These could be the ones that get annihilated in that lake of fire and sulphur.
annihilation means total destruction ----obliterated

Spirits don't die and they can't be obliterated ---they live forever -----so you either live eternally with God or you live eternally away from God ------

The lake of fire ---it the 2nd death for Satan and His demons and the unsaved people who reject Jesus and they are eternally separated from God for ever and ever and are in torment ------the fire burns but does not destroy ----sulphur in scripture means ---Brimstone which are burning rocks------

Moses seeing the burning bush but the fire did not destroy the bush itself ------- fire came out of the burning bush ------the lake of fire will burn but not destroy -----it will torment -------

Revelation 20:14-15 ESV

Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

No one talks about the Book Of life ----it is an important piece of knowledge to have yet it is not preached about ------God keeps records in Heaven ------and the Books will be open says scripture in

Revelation----20:12

AMPC
I [also] saw the dead, great and small; they stood before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is [the Book] of Life. And the dead were judged (sentenced) by what they had done [their whole way of feeling and acting, their aims and endeavors] in accordance with what was recorded in the books.

According to the Bible, the lake of fire is the “second death.” This is the ultimate consequence of sin, which is to be totally cut off from God. The lake of fire will be a place of perpetual suffering and misery. Scripture indicates that every person whose name is not in the Book of Life will be cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:15). The lake of fire will also be the fate of the beast and false prophet from the end times (Revelation 19:20), as well as Satan himself (Revelation 20:10). The Bible indicates that both death and Hades—the temporary destination of the unsaved dead—will also be cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:14)

Thus we forge on with trying to educate the offspring of everything ... but not with much heart it it ... they do not learn well ... thus it all goes down like Gabriel! Although he had the other 3 siblings to assist ... the other 2 were way ahead while one was behind all broken up by the impact of non-sense!

Prime rule I've heard from mortal authorities is: "don't think anything d it!"

That's were the soul portion stops in soliloquy ... talking itself into better sentients! Sometimes ... mostly naught ...

A story, ballad, myth or otherwise may have functioned better ... these tend to get carved in relief ... so relax ... let something go ... if you know what I mean ...

Gathering is improved????

According to Revelation, but it does contradict some scriptures.
Another view.

Some may believe the person who wrote Revelation was the John who wrote the Gospel of John and others may think that it was another "John" and even what year it was written. I wonder if that shapes how we read Revelation?

Revelation embellishes what Jesus himself had to say about end times and the arrival of the Son of Man.
