For the liberal church, this is probably the best known section of Revelation. The United Church sings two hymns based on the passage:

I See a New Heaven (VU 713)
Behold, Behold I Make All Things New (MV 115)

Using OT phraseology, the writer gives us a vision of a future era. You wouldn't know it from the hymns, but the new heaven and new earth don't arrive until after the end of the Messianic Age.

It is a beautiful and appealing vision to read or sing about. Are heaven and earth merged into one entity now??? Is this the kingdom of God Jesus expected???

Wrongdoers, who are described in v.8, will experience a second death. Their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulphur.

Does the heaven fall into the earth as black and white?

Does this degrade by times into red, yellow, greens and those that blew it ... admit it, we are far from perfect ... thus voids in the gross carrier ... the administration that accepts no onus only great praise ...

It is depressing to the support system destroyed by, you know what! Can a shadow or Ra be stretched? No end to some myths ... thus we go back to the beginning ... scrolling through time!

How do they do that? Ask not ... for someone will be rapping on your knuckles ... treating you as Pi Ge'ez! (rational lost language from a dark place). White knuckle trip? Down it goes ... sowed ...

Solution may be autonomous as we can't put it all together ... all for bust?

In this vision of existence, God now resides with us. (v.3)

It is hard to visualize because the seas will have disappeared. Just imagine that!! The Holy City will have been restored, like a bride adorned for her husband.

And all manner of sinners will have experienced a second death.

What if our loved ones are in the group that was sent to the fire and sulphur? What if a family member used crystals and intentions to access the divine, say?

There is an idea that God will erase our memories of the ones we loved if they are no longer with us. Hmmm. I don't think this idea is biblical but I have read about it.

Depletion of memes ... due to weaker psyche? So thoughts are stripped down ... the necessities are rough ... administration will lead to much trimming and cutting ... so that hoarding can be achieved ...

If numbers are close on Musk's empire ... he made something like $12MM/hr last year (give or take a degree of magnitude). Can you imagine him cutting and trimming enough to make him sweat? Thus arid conditions ... dry humus? Sophisticated cookers ...

Agreed. It doesn't sound very heavenly either.

PTSD???? There are authorities that cannot recall a thing about that condition ...

There are some lunatic psychologists that probe this dark area ... as a hell 've a place to deal with past scars ... the perfect will declare they have none of it!

More to ponder and roll over in the pool ...

PTSD often manifests itself in flashbacks of the traumatic event. Will those with the erased memories have flashbacks of losing their loved ones?

On a related note, the Netflix series Unbelievable is worth watching. It deals with response to trauma.

One wonders if PTSD is an underlying factor in Revelation's writing assuming that, as sometimes alleged, it was written during a persecution.

My mom used to say that heaven was eventually going to be situated on earth. She didn't mention this passage but I wonder if she was thinking about it.

Jerusalem, based on "And did those feet in ancient times" by William Blake, is another hymn with a connection to this passage.

This one I have heard as a choir anthem.
Yeah, I think it is used more that way than as an actual hymn these days. Of course, it's the source for the title of the movie Chariots of Fire (which it in turn knicked from somewhere in the OT) and appears in the movie.

Do we actually think that the new earth will come down from heaven ?-----or will God come down from heaven and recreate this earth that will be burned up -----

Where are you getting the earth being burned up @unsafe? This passage just says the old earth and the old heaven cease to exist. Is there another reference in scripture?
