Room For All

Good evening all!

After two full days of rain (but not nearly as much as they got down south) the sun is shining clearly in the evening sky. I guess the fireworks committee didn't anticipate that, as they cancelled the fireworks for tonight, and I'm guessing it was because of the rain/weather. The rest of the week is supposed to be sunny and warm. Getting ready to prepare for Canada Day tomorrow - getting out the red finger and toe nail polish and locating my paste on Canada Day tattoos. In years past I always used to go swimming on July 1st if I hadn't been in the water before then. Last year (because of my health) I never even swam once last year . . . debating about this year . . . who knows what tomorrow will bring.

Yes, Greywolf . . . although I am greatly enjoying wondercafe2, I too experienced a sadness in the closing of wondercafe. Are others experiencing any sadness or loss in original wondercafe or do you feel you have moved on quite well onto wondercafe2?

I'm wondering how everyone is doing tonight?

Lastpointe has brought a bottle of wine to the room, and seeler has set out some chips and salmon cream cheese dip. Sounds like a great start to a celebratory gathering. I'm adding some surprise dip spread and crackers.

It is raining hard again and the wind is blowing. I suppose next week I will be whining about heat and mosquitoes. Hearts are never satisfied especially crazy ones.

My Gosh, how did Grant's yellow thong get here? I guess it feels like the room now.

Where is Pilgrim?

I was drinking grapefruit beer, but I'll try some wine. I'll add some popcorn to the mix.

Beloved, I was really sad to hear about WC's closing when it was announced months ago. This is similar enough though, that I'm good with the change. I've seen other forums go through different versions and that's what this feels like. I'll miss aspects of wondercafe, but this forum is more functional. I'm more just disappointed with the way the UCCan handled the whole thing.

This is the first time I've heard of grapefruit beer, chemgal...curious, does it taste like a cooler/ citrus cider? I haven't seen it here.

I am a little bit sad that WC is closed yeah. I got used to checking in, and hanging out there- and the cheery warm yellow that greeted us there felt familiar. It could get a little raucous, for better or worse, though. A 'refresh' is good. And I'm enjoying the discussions here. One thing I notice here is that I don't feel the need to respond to as many topics, even if they catch my interest. Part of that is, for me, psychological. 1. I was going to take a long break but haven't, so I am trying to be more conscious to curb the habit. 2. The text box is light grey- and i discovered that I have subconsciously learned that grey usually means 'closed for texting in/ commenting', whereas white text boxes are open for comment.

Happy Canada Day!

Good morning everyone! It is a cool (+9C) Canada Day morning here in my part of Manitoba. It is supposed to be sunny, but a high of only +20C today. A great day to be outside. After all the rain everything green will grow like crazy with a bit of heat.

Finger and Toe nails are red and Canada flags (tattoos) are flying on my feet, calves, shoulder, and forearm. Happy Birthday, country o' mine!

I wondered when the vegamite was going to come out, Pilgrim's Progress :). How are you? What are the temperatures in your neck of the woods these days.

I think the wondercafe2 is kinda cool, Kimmio . . . it will be an adventure.

May everyone on this national holiday be safe and happy.

Quick note to say hi to folks. The air is wonderfully fresh this morning in penticton

I am surrounded by food for the canoe trip which tabitha has organized

Has been great to meet tabitha in person. Looking forward to busy days ahead

Kimmio, it doesn't taste like cider, it is still definitely a beer, but the grapefruit taste is there. It's from an Edmonton brewery, Alley Kat. When I drink there stuff usually it's aprikat, a beer with apricots which is subtle. I hadn't tried this one before though - main squeeze, I think I prefer it especially for the summer.

If you want, you can change the colours to white and blue, I don't think the boxes look grey in the default style (which isn't the default).

Pinga, have fun! How's the weather?

It's so humid here in Islington Village - Toronto. I want to be cleaning the house up a bit for our annual Canada Day party - but I am so hot that I can barely move. Meanwhile - it rained outside so mowing the lawn is out too.

Richard Branson (Mr. Virgin, no longer ;)) is flying me over in his personal jet for Canada Day....

A jar of vegemite for everyone who turns up at the airport to say hello.....

Personal jet? You mean you couldn't talk him into giving you a ride in his spaceship?

I'm back from a pancake breakfast hosted by our MLA. The food was surprisingly really good, water, starbucks iced tea & coffee, really thick pancakes and sausages from the nearby butcher. Chemguy and I then walked around the lake for a bit, we actually hadn't gone in before. I think we'll go back tonight for the fireworks. It's nice, the lake is private but they open it up for everyone for the fireworks.

It is hot today, already 27. Hopefully the provinces to the east will be getting some of this weather, it sounds like they could use it.

Happy Canada Day! It is nice to pop in and see the bunch of you. I had almost 2 weeks of reading to catch up on! Whew a busy place this is!

A special hello to Kimmio. Glad you decided to try this place out.

And Boots, I haven't seen you in a very long time. Great to see you.

And Birthstone, awesome to see you as well.

There are others....I would have to scroll through again but I did see you and you all make me smile. Such a warm gathering of friends here.

I bring strawberries and whipped cream for a Canada Day treat. Can't be certain it goes well with the beverages being served, and pretty sure it won't go with Pilgrim's vegemite, but hoping some of you will enjoy!

Youngest busyson, my mom and I went to the firefighter's breakfast in town this morning. Lunch is not needed today....that was a huge breakfast!
He is getting along well with his cast. Surgery was averted, so that is good.

In a weak moment last week I agreed to get the busygang a puppy! Maybe it was sympathy for busyson with his cast, maybe it was that I am experiencing the beginning of empty nest (2 kids away at camp this summer), maybe it's a midlife crisis, but we are getting a puppy!! And it sure is cute! We don't get it for a couple of weeks so I have busyson researching puppy care and cleaning the house.

Sending warm thoughts to the west coast the gang at the wonder gathering.

I prefer wine over beer ten times out of ten, but I have enjoyed an aprikat when beer's the only thing on offer. And I like that it's (relatively) local.
You should try main squeeze if you get the chance. I really enjoy beer, as I stopped drinking it for a while except for special occasions as I would wake up with a sore throat the next morning. When I then had the throat issues, I didn't want to risk it. I don't seem to have that issue any more, but don't drink it regularly just to be safe.

As an Intern Pastor I can't drink anything alcoholic - not that I used to much anyway. My favorite drink for summertime would be a lovely pink lemonade.
