@BetteTheRed
Oh yes the decluttering! We have talked about this a few times. My decluttering is done except for routine "maintenance". . . going through my desk once a year etc.

My home feels lighter and more spacious now and it is much easier to clean (huge bonus).

I dealt with my Christmas decor last year and there is still a box of stuff to send off to donation when the season rolls around.again.

On another note I have been contemplating that the decades of life give us another way to think about those phases. For me, many major life events have taken place around the years ending in 0. Roughly speaking.

The twists and turns of our faith journeys are interesting too.

Thanks everyone for your posts.

Interesting question

I think there are a series of waves, like a great lake or an ocean.
There are the big waves that you see, where are sudden changes -- new jobs, a move, a death, a birth, a marriage...
There are the little waves, the ones where you time things based on was that before or after the kids started school, or I had this manager.
My transition to full retirement is in that ebb /flow....and my dad did the same. I think BetteTheRed is also doing it...where you have some paid work, just different.

I'm in the
being grandparents
learning new things whilst semi-retired
ok but not awesome health
kinda rural
cocooning -- realize that i am being fairly introverted socially these days

What comes to mind to me as a Cis woman is "Maiden, Mother and Crone" This is certainly not everyone's experience, nor should it be, but it fits for me.
As maiden, it's a time of learning and freedom...few responsibilities except to one's self. Lots of experimentation and trying on different identities. Emotionally all over the map. Vocations explored.
Mother shifts focus from self to other for a time. Much energy goes to nourishment of those around you. A time of teaching. Sexual maturity. Vocations established. Leadership and outgoing energy.
Crone is a return to self-commitment. Passing on knowledge. Sifting through experience for what's worth keeping. Lots of goodbyes and loss. Greater sense of self and less preoccupation with things that used to be important. Actually coming to terms with your own mortality.
Just a rough outline. Maybe I can expand a little more later.

Always the mores ... as something that hangs on the horizon moving as we get closer ... and yet some believe it is nailed down! Thus a fixed edifice?

Oh I had forgotten all about the maiden, mother and crone model

I first heard about it in the 90's at an Ontario Women's Conference. @JayneWonders used to be involved with the organization of this annual conference.

Some of the women were having "croning" parties at the time to celebrate this phase of life. Not sure if this ever became a thing.

Red Hat Societies took off for a while too. From the poem which starts with the lines:

When I am old I shall wear purple
With a red hat.

In the Sandman comics by Neil Gaiman, that's how the three Fates (or Norns if you prefer Norse mythology) were drawn. One as a young woman, one middle-aged, one elderly.

How about Childhood, Youth, Contributing, Sharing. Eventually, of course, Past the Best Before Date.
I guess that puts me in the Sharing phase. Seems like an okay place to be.

When is our best before date would you say? In OT school we learned that human shoulders start to show signs of aging by age 16.

For me it started at 60 with a firm diagnosis of a disease that would get progressively more difficult to handle. I had suspected it for ten years prior to getting complete testing. Since then I have added other diseases that tend to afflict older people, plus the weird fungal infection in a lung. Currently living with nine prescription meds and five supplements.

Thanks for your post @KayTheCurler

Yes, many diagnoses get progressively harder to handle. We poke fun at aging with our red hats and "croning" parties but this is the sad reality.

Yikes - I must have been at the pub that day as I don't recall that fact at all :ROFLMAO:
Every so often I recall such little gems.

I also remember that the biceps inserts into the lateral lip of the bicipital groove! But I swear this is the one single thing I recall from second year Anatomy.

Aside from the acronyms:

TTC has such low ticket prices (the bones of the wrist).

On Old Olympus' towering tops a fair auburn girl viewed a hedge (the cranial nerves). :ROFLMAO:

Does crooning derive from crowing over something unseen ... just so we don't know about myths?

Along with the myth of the 3 fates (faiths) as predetermined ... comes the myth of the 3 primary Muses each followed by 3 others ... do your research! Yet people will not research as it is too much like questioning and someone stated we shouldn't question anything, or everything that makes up a portion of God nere all! Few really believe as it is unseen ...

Powerful denial often assists what is well laid out on medium ... owned by Hoo's!

Acronyms are expansive and a great way to hide much information that people don't wish to know about and thus intelligence goes downhill as human resource wasted!

Then administration on pedestals do often believe that they created who empires all alone ... without any support what sow ever ... kind of piggish rite! Damn mean as bono out of place ... what's bono? It may appear as the question qui bono and not well understood today as blinding predestination is the object ... the cure? Don't ponder the topic! Thus repeated trope ... to further confuse ... if you understand psyche babble you may be on the road there ... to meeting what was despised ... Sophi-A!

It is said we should not g against wisdom ... but we do most often ... just look about ... the great mystery needed a place to put Ide ... and it is hard to explain! Words are lacking with all their attachments ... disposed understanding?
