Different asinine decisions that set the far right up to do worse more easily. The US elected Trump - that was their asinine decision. Canada, with public support, created the most expansive bill in the world thus far, to allow the state killing of marginalized groups of people. Those things are not mutually exclusive. None of it is.
Hitler was so impressed with eugenics established in North America and UK he used it to justify the Holocaust. Humanity hasn’t learned much from history. It might look a little different, veiled in “choice a-nd compassion” - and overt acknowledgement of socioeconomic motivations that benefit white privilege would be off putting today, to people who don’t want to admit that it’s brutal - but it’s still an existential threat to disabled people. Particularly poor, and non white, disabled people. But also disabled people as a whole - it diminishes our humanity and acceptance as disabled people. If the far right gets in here - it’s not impossible - that’s a fricken nightmare as if it’s not bad enough.
