Hoping to say goodbye to the winter chill soon - -18 with wind chill tonight here in "southern" Ontario! I'm sure the Jamaican team that played Canada here in Toronto today would agree & can't wait to get home to sunshine & warmth!

At the same time, I'm glad we could support her and "send her off". When my father was taken to the hospital last year, we were able to see him using What'sApp. I absolutely appreciated that service and being able to connect with him from afar. That is also an image I can't erase.

I can't offer wisdom. I can though offer comfort and hugs from afar.

Yes, if there was any question that she was dead, that pic would definitely be proof. My siblings sat with her during the day, but weren’t there at the time of death. Sometimes people wait with dying until they are alone, so not sure if that was the case here,too.
 
Good morning, all! More snow and wind in this part of midwestern Ontario. Another good day to stay in and hunker down round the coffee cart. As we mourn our losses and celebrate our joys (Canada going to the World Cup) let us join in friendship and support. All is ready.

Grumble. I'm interviewing today so had to come in to the office. My end of the city (West London) was awful but in the East where I work, the roads were in poor shape but the snow had stopped. Drinking Russian Caravan tea today. A very strong blend with some Lapsang Souchang (pine smoked black tea from China) in it.

And it got worse. They no-showed. So I drove through the last major snowstorm of the winter for ... nothing. Though my boss invited me to join him and new employee for lunch (ordered in by our executive assistant) so there's that.

We had heavy rain turning to hail turning to snow, then melting away. For all of you dealing with snow and anticipating Ukraine resistance, here a poem I found cleaning up my computer files:
CROCUS PRAYER

It takes courage to be crocus minded.

. . .I’d rather wait until June,

Like wild roses,

When the hazards of winter are

Safely behind and I’m expected,

And everything’s ready for roses.

But crocuses?

Highly irregular.

Knifing up through hard-frozen ground and snow,

Sticking their necks out

Because they believe in spring

And have something personal and emphatic

To say about it.

. . .I am not by nature crocus-minded.

Even when I have studied the

Situation, and know there

Are wrongs that need righting,

Affirmations that need stating,

And know that my speaking out may offend,

For it rocks the boat –

Well, I’d rather wait until June.

Maybe things will work themselves out,

And we won’t have to make an issue of it.

Forgive me.

Wrongs won’t work themselves out.

Injustices and inequities and hurt

Don’t just dissolve.

Somebody has to stick their neck out;

Somebody who

Cares enough to think through

And work through

What is a craw cuss? They are devoted to darker cause ... thus the Ja'imes Crow theory about things we'd rather not be sentient about ... thus salience and space!

The cussing of white washed things goes on and on ...
 
Hugs, MrsA. And I love your poem. I think I was crocus-minded at our Church Board meeting today and our annual meeting yesterday. I like that term better than the one that kept swirling around in my head.

Yeah, they are calling for a high of 4 here in London so we should lose some of it this afternoon. Cold this morning, though.

@Mrs.Anteater I like that poem. Thanks for posting it. Reminds me a bit of Mary Oliver in how it uses natural imagery.
 
Good morning. It’s snowing in Nova Scotia. Good I have no need to go anywhere.
I started part of my regular morning exercises yesterday, but ended up with knee pain. I probably had twisted it in the fall and the pain meds I took for the wrist had covered it up.
No exercises for a while. I am afraid to have a set back to my old knee problems. Maybe I try the exercise bike for a bit.
My siblings are busy canceling subscriptions and insurances my mother had. That made me think that a list of such things and a list of passwords for websites would be good to keep with the will.

Funeral will be sometime at the end of April. My mother was actually catholic and had a connection to her local congregation,where she was part of a group called “ the young families”- who grew old together. They were always active in the church and held their own bible studies ( one of them had studied theology), which were quite progressive. Years ago, the congregation was taken over by a group of eastern european monks- and apparently
one of them has told the “ old ladies “ left from that group that “ they will all end in purgatory” and he “ can’t wait for that to happen”. So my siblings did not want those priests to have anything to do with my mother and got the local protestant minister to see her in the nursing home and be involved in her funeral. And this is where it goes full circle, because my mom had to convert from protestant to Catholic in order to be allowed to marry my dad when she was pregnant before being married. The In-laws were some stiff- lipped, sour Catholics who made my 18 year old mother’s life a nightmare.
 
All religions have factors that could be compared to stone hearted ... they hide amongst the more open factions ...

One thus learns the good from the bad from the ugly from the booty ... that kicking up factor ... it is a paradox (one story within another)! Resembles an onion or cabbage and thus need for cabal ... from there the mythology gets complex because of all the burned books!

If one cannot support the straight line ... dip a bit into the myths of history! See how powerful and corrupt reality is ...
 
Mrs.A. My husband is Catholic as are my kids. When my 18 year old daughter had a baby, and no husband, I was pleasantly surprised at how she was very accepted, and the baby was baptised with no questions asked. The priest happens to be an individual who has a usually abrasive personality. Yet, he was amazing in the baptismal service. So, when I think of what I don't like about him, I pair it with this...what I do like.

I have associates in all BS ... isn't that terrible to the isolationists in their autonomy? Autocrats build their own Bach 's ... then they get it up over nothing ... the waste rate is awesome because of extreme populace ... overblown? Should it not allow labor sharing, etc.? Yet folk do not know how to utilize free time ... without conflict ... always someone wishing to be 1st person! No one thinks and processes ... avarice being controlling and eliminating atavism ... taking a turn at peering behind ... cat's wake ...

Good evening. I had a mundane doctor's appointment today. All was good. BC has a new thing that people going to the hospital for any cancer related treatment/scan/whatever don't have to pay for parking. I got to try it out. I couldn't figure out how to enter the required code. So, I put the card on my dashboard and went in for the appointment. I read the directions when I got home. Reading them properly beforehand would have been a good idea. :rolleyes:
