Yes, one is supposed to let the decorations stay up until January 5, by tradition (the 12th day of Christmas.)
But I think mine may be coming down before then, likely sometime this week.
LAST, by the way.

And some decorations stay up year round (to keep the Christmas spirit alive)

Then you would take them down January 6, wouldn't you? After the 12th day of Christmas?

Or if you are the kind of purist who adds the Magi to the Nativity scene on Epiphany, you might take them down January 7, no?

My family's tradition was to take down the Christmas decor after New Year's Day. Usually January 2.

Mr Paradox's family always did it on Boxing Day.

My decorations come out at the beginning of December. Can't say they are tied to Advent. My mom used to get a real tree and put it up a few days before the 25th.

Growing up we always had a real tree and nothing was decorated till Dec 24 - if we did it early it was Dec 23rd - and all the decorations came down Jan 6th

Stay in or bundle up, I guess.

I had a poem for the New Year's issue - which I'm putting together today - and I can't find the piece of paper now...I even dug through the recycling box
