Anyone for bats?

My goodness there are a lot of creepy things when you think about it. Not even taking into account certain human beings as mentioned by @ChemGal

Hornets. Bees I can live with, even if they make me nervous and solitary wasps don't bother me much but hornets? The Devil's insects
Not something we have here thankfully! I think they are only Eastern Canada and then the murder hornets that have made their wsy to bc. Not sure if I think of them as creepy. Scary is a word I would use. Ditto with yellowjacket wasp species.

The thing some kids do eith pins where it goes through the top layer of skin. Ick!
Yeah piercings of any kind creep me out but those ones are the worst. And ones in ... sensitive places.

Tattoos, too, though if one of well done, I can kind of forget how it got there.

Anyone for bats?

I love bats. When I was growing up, my godparents century home often had a bat or two in the old dug cellar beneath the house. You'd occasionally hear their wings from below you, particularly in the kitchen as I recall.

I also don't mind mice, but not in the house. Which is a constant battle around here, as my house is old and full of tiny holes.

And I don't mind spiders, either, as I find them active, co-operative friendly types who are torment on all sorts of insects - pantry moths and flies, and who are usually amenable to a gentle breath in their direction accompanied by a murmured "now don't let me see you".

How about hairless cats?

I like critters of all sorts. Human foolishness is not their fault. I personally confess to finding chihuahuas particularly vicious little personalities, but I've known people, including my sister, who have known and loved them, so clearly their creepiness is an individual thing.

What about certain foods?

Why did I start this

I can definitely say that I avoid octopus because I'm afraid of eating something smarter than me. There are a few things I don't like (broad beans, watermelon). A couple to which I'm allergic, like mussels, so I avoid shellfish in general. But nothing I think of as creepy.

Thanks for the stories related to creepiness. It's been fun reading them..

Sorry to do this to the dog lovers (please don't take offense) but I am creeped out by dogs licking people's faces. Especially since I have known a dog or two to eat cats' faeces. Another Ick right there.

Oh yes let us not forget squirrels and chipmunks. They are cute for sure, especially chipmunks, but I dislike it when people forget they are wild animals. Feeding them can get them so tame they become a total nuisance.

Creepy when they start approaching people in parks.or running.up the Muskoka chairs.

Don't even get me started on bird feeders. Who wants to be attracting rats and bears? Seriously.

Haha depends where you are. Other than birds to only thing I have noticed enjoying the feeder below are hares. In the front yard coyotes could potentially be an issue in iur backyard they haven't been, fence type is a factor, they easily jump chain link ones that back onto walking paths. Mice are moreso about the storage of the bags, less so the feeders.

In our neighbourhood, the squirrels are definitely interested in the seeds. Mice are a constant problem in outside sheds/benches; I just keep seed in the garage in sealed containers. My sister's about an hour north of me, well into the Shield, and there's bears up there, but she's never had a feeder disturbed or any bear prints where the seed might spill.

We hiked Sunshine Meadows once in behind Sunshine Ski Resort. There was a resting place with benches that some marmots had adopted as a begging place. One attacked a hiker that would not give it anything to eat

Squirrels can be aggressive, damaging, as well. For a while I as keeping my peanuts in the deacon's bench on the front porch. Until day I was late feeding the little buggers and they started gnawing on the bench. Peanuts came inside, feeding became less than daily and rarely at the same time.

A squirrel in aggressive mode once caused disturbance in a Mrs Hype Revival ...

Coyotes and raccoons are bad too, even in cities. People actually feed these things!!! Just stop it already.

Speaking of creepy things, I have told this story before but definitely fits here. One morning several years ago I awoke to find the hindquarters of a rabbit in my backyard. No sign of the rest of it, just the back legs, tail, and assorted internals. Suspects? Well, I've seen hawks around here (last spring one breakfasted on a bird in my yard while I breakfasted on cereal with nuts inside). And there's supposedly coyotes in the valley on the West side of my subdivision which is not far from my house (I can walk to one of the entrances in 5 minutes or so). And stray dogs or cats, I guess, though I have only ever seen cats wandering around here and those seem to be domestics patrolling their territory. It is more the coyotes that make me a little creeped out. I'm good with hawks hunting on my property. In fact, I wish I saw them more often.

Coyotes sound likely. We have them in my suburban neighborhood
