LAST after a 2.75 hr fun Zoom with my two Aussie friends
I was on Zoom longer than that on Wednesday but "fun" wasn't really the goal. It was a business workshop. The session was about as fun as those things go (it was on how to "tell our story"), but definitely not as fun as yours.

I've been lucky as almost all my Zooms are fun :)

LAST after watching Prince Philip's funeral...I'm not a funeral person, but I did meet Philip and shook his hand when he presented me with the Duke of Ed award in 1992...I burst into tears when they first showed the Queen in her Bentley just before it followed the casket...she's probably feeling quite lost right now.

Cool that you got the award from Philip himself. That's got to take the joy of winning it up a notch or two.

I've never had a personal encounter with the royals or even any prominent Canadians. My school orchestra got waved at by Trudeau Sr. when we toured the Parliament buildings not long before he left politics and that's about it.

More than a notch or two :) He was amazing...there were about 30 (?) of us receiving the award and he said something specific to each and afterwards, he met with some of the recipients and their families - we were the LAST grouping before they whisked him away (he didn't want to leave till he'd talked to all but they insisted he had to go to the next event) - he walked up and remembered what I had told him earlier and he asked my parents and sis interesting questions as we chatted - funniest was that he said Dad looked far too young to be retired and Dad was a mere 4 years younger than Philip (and year older than the Queen).

I've always wanted to meet the Queen too but if I only ever have the chance to meet one, Philip was by far the best one to meet.

I've never met any prominent Canadians - only prominent AB politicians. That said, I am the descendant of some very early prominent Canadians (Botsford)

I have a prominent cheese-maker in my family tree. Does that count? Accounts for my love of old cheddar, I guess. :D

LAST, as my only claim to a brush with fame is a party that Jim Carrey was at; I was 18 and a cocktail waitress in a comedy club where he was doing impressions, and a bunch of us adjourned to the party room in the motel he was staying.

OK - I'll jump into Last with my meeting with the late Queen Mum. She spoke to me - but not the other kids around me. Apparently it helps to have some sort of identifying feature that makes you stick out - I was in a leg cast from my foot as far up as it could go.
