So here we go, back to power being centralized in the PMO even though Trudeau was supposed to be the guy who undid that. I had my doubts from the start given that it was just as centralized under Chretien as under Harper. Who know how much Garneau would have known, though. He would have known her in her days at CSA and a lot of problems seem to have come later when was COO at the Montreal Science Centre.
 
True enough. but as reporters discovered the day she was announced , a quick google search showed up several issues

in a way I am surprised she took the job. Money? Prestige? Who knows

but she is very private. Didn’t want to live at Rideau Hall because tourists can enter the houses and tour the grounds. She didn’t like the rcmp following her around. She didn’t like all the pomp and ceremony. I mean what did she think the job would be

Yeah, it's not really a job for an introvert, eh. I wouldn't take it, even with the perks it's a lot of work and bother. Having to hang out and be polite with visiting dignitaries who you may or may not like alone seems like a possible definition of Hell for me.

Celibate celebrities? The conflict goes on with great complexities although the powers say ... be simple ... and ignorance blooms!

Right, but to be on your best behaviour for four years in exchange for a 6 figure pension for life (and she's not an old woman) doesn't seem like an unfair trade.
 
Short haul didn't work out ... regarding personality development!

It is said there are behavioural treatments for that ... alas poorly understood to say least as few believe in psyche existentialism ... thus disposed?

No, I'd probably lose my f***ing mind and not be on my best behaviour, esp. if I was being expected to entertain the likes of Donald Trump or Boris Johnson. And I am prone to just wanting to withdraw and be left alone at the worst of times as it is. If I had to host a state dinner in one of those moods, I would probably blow it badly.
 
Some people can face folk like that ... perhaps because they don't know beta ... lacking adequate attributes of clues!
 
Boy I could put up with a lot for six figures. And most of the duties are not holding state dinners. I can’t even remembe the last state dinner in Canada.

The report is out but is so redacted that you can’t glean much more than what the papers report

i remain still puzzled that Trudeau allowed the GG to bring her own “assistant” with her. A role that is equal to a deputy cabinet minister. I guess he was just so thrilled to get a celebrity that he didn’t care? Odd

Political odds are queer in all directions ... kind 've radical compared to mediums!
 
Interesting, I keep remembering that at the time of the appointment, a younger friend who is a true PC said, "bad choice". Didn't go into details, but his message was strong enough, it made me go hmmmm.

I have a sense there were flags, and that those flags were ignored as just "female bashing".
Women that are strong are often labelled as bullies. Dang, I've worked for some of them.
You get used to rolling your eyes when those comments come out.
 
Yes. I agree. I was pretty enthusiastic at first. We had a friend involved in the Olympic movement who was vey negative

interesting article today spoke about strong females being bashed. My husband said, if any man working for him was like that he would be out the door immediately. For cause. Makes you wonder if as rumors filtered out the PMO was just ignoring them


The report says, after tons of pages of preamble and then tons of blanked out pages that the interviewers asked one question

what would you like to tell us about your experience........ no follow up questions. No digging. Just an open format to tell us what you think. Am sure they were worried about leading witnesses
 
Recall aggression, assertion and conflict in radical form is hostile ... few are cognizant of this ... thus the battle continues !

Rites or remnants of the destructive urge ...
