Is "bull", BS and bull-lie in vogue on one side of the large divide as part of believed Canaan/canon?

Exchange canon balls ... give M a twist and listen ... the power moves; initiation ...

Oh to see the ridiculous in life is almost virtue of being insane!

Can't imagine how a leader would blunder into such a thing ... being we seem to live in a world of unacknowledged blunders ... vented Eire?

If caught in it deny, deny, deny and thus it stacks up ... prepare!

I found her letter!posted in the globe, very self serving. I didn’t do anything wrong but I will resign anyway.....

Pretty rich if Trudeau to say today we need to have a better vetting process. We did have a committee to recommend all the gg roles. He just ignored it

More evidence he is more about flash than substance. He needs better advisors than the ones he has. I did not believe he was lacking in intellectual ability but a lengthening series of bizarre blunders is making me wonder if I overated his abilities. It was already clear he lacked vision and reliable values. I was hoping he would open the way for a leadership contest when he list the popular vote in 2019 and the Conservatives and Greens were having leadership contests. I do not have much of a sense yet of A. Paul as a leader. O'Toole is a disaster wanting to happen. Not sure about Singh.

Flash .... substance ... thus really blows by! Powers take advantage without a clue ...

It is corporeal or general ... Chicken'S Tuff!

Me. A six figure retirement bonus - I am in.
And a huge house. Unfortunately, it now comes with the PM as a neighbour since the Trudeaus are living in a building on the Rideau Hall grounds while 24 Sussex undergoes repairs and renovations (which will likely not be done for a while so I suspect the next PM or two will also live there).

Trudeau's pitch was largely (a) hey, I'm a Trudeau and (b) he was handsome, charismatic, and well-spoken unlike the Conservative introverts he was up against. I never had any sense he was going to be a strong leader and I still don't. I suspect most of the competence we do see comes from his cabinet and he's just the pretty face that sells the stuff. Any time he take charge, though, things do not seem to go well, at least to my eye.

I am cautiously positive about Annamie Paul leading the Greens but Jagmeet has impressed of late, though I'm still not sold on the NDP as a party.

Quo Anon ... I suspect folks in power ... there for large pensions!

I will stick to doing nothing so as to reach the goal of sum zero (it appears as roue*l) isn't that the plan, goal, conspiracy's base ... as it is said man must die so the thoughts can be supported in abstract! Floaters ... let the dark games begin --- Macky the master of Machiavellianism! The enemies can' cut it ...

Good piece in the Globe today by John Fraser (former Liberal cabinet minister) pointing out that Stephen Harper had, in fact, implemented a screening and nomination process for all vice-regal positions, both the G-G and the provincial lieutenant-governors. His system included an independent nominating committee and a formal review process that ended with the committee providing a short list of nominees to the PMO. G-G David Johnston and Ontario's current L-G were chosen using that system. Fraser himself served on the committee for the Ontario appointment. The concern was not so much avoiding a situation like this as getting away from the appointment of political hacks to the role, but it works for both.

Trudeau basically threw Harper's system out and went back to the old process of the PMO deciding behind closed doors. This isn't marked with a key, so it should be accessible as long as you haven't read the maximum free article per month.

Say what you will about Harper, he was very thoughtful and methodical about things like this and that approach is not a bad one. His problem is that he combined it with a kind of cold, ruthless so-con, neo-liberal politics. This system, in particular, needs to be revived and enshrined in law to make it harder for future PMs to ignore it.

At the time of her appointment it was known that Trudeau has tossed the committee. And now he says we need more vetting. Duh. What an idiot

an article yesterday noted that once her name was announced it took reporters half a day to find her divorce and assault charge and her vehicular manslaughter charge. Noted that she wouldn’t have passed a vetting process to become a MP nominee

Trudeau is all about flash. One look at her employment at the Montreal museum could have told them everything. And since when do we have a g.g. Bring her own staff. That second in command role is for a senior civil servant. Like the privy council office. Stupid.

Dr. Roberta Bondar may have been a better choice if they wanted an astronaut. She is very comfortable with interacting with the public. Too bad she wasn't considered for whatever reason.

Perhaps she was - and declined. Bondar is such an interesting person.

Kelly Nestruck in the Globe is suggesting someone from, or supportive of, the arts community. She suggests Karen Kain, Philip Akin, and Martha Henry, then talks about how Charles and the Queen have been supporting the arts during COVID-19 and how it would be a good time for a G-G who is in tune with that. It's paywalled, but if you're a Globe subscriber, it is a recommended read.

I was stunned to read today that Trudeau did not even run her name past his cabinet. Including one of her astronaut colleagues. The arrogance of Trudeau is always stunning

lets get back to a committee to review, research and get a list together. And no more bringing your own staff. There is a reason a senior civil servant runs the office. Experience counts
