Especially as the prescient individual is detained in some surreptitious lockdown! Allowing for prescient blindness to the wreck bearing down on M ...

Ominously vacant bubble of ethereal nature ... the understood sense that there's nothing there ... in the hed man's head! Headless ..

Yes, it's really the first time they've had "Presidency by Tweet", isn't it?

I wonder if "special" prisoners are allowed to keep their phones and twitter accounts, lol?

I heard the clip of the president talking to the Georgia official about getting more votes. The poor man is an example of why you tell your children no and teach them how to deal with loss. He sounds quite pitiful. He just can't fathom that he's actually lost something or that someone is saying no to him.

There are folk around us that form an environment that would suck up the naivete contained there ... and not even know it ... according to that principle!

He's probably the penultimate bad example of what happens when you indulge a person, their every whim, their entire life. His family started it, his culture picked it up.

Then when you have to face failure for the first time in your 70s, your psyche has a melt-down.

He's a textbook case of a total failure of parenting, probably coupled with some unfortunate genetic mutations, but who will ever know?

Melt down ... when waxing old or wacked out of reality? Pretend a bit to conform and fit the situation as it incarnates! It is not as it appears ...

I'm wondering who gave the tape to the newspapers?
It appears to me Trump is being played. He's never really known how to be a politician, let alone the rules a president should go by and probably isnt aware of half of what hes signed until after hes signed.
He seems to be led by popular social media opinion and I wouldnt doubt theres a heavy republican political influence in the background that has been "guiding" him into multitudes of disasters including those tapes. Why else wouldnt someone have put a stop to him talking on those tapes?

How is he being played? He's a narcissist that does what he wants and who doesn't take no for an answer. Have you heard any of the tape? He sounds pretty desperate. He's never had to face such a public loss over which he has little or no control. Apparently Raffensberger is known to be thorough and some are not surprised he taped the discussion.

This article is interesting President calls Raffensberger

It sounds like people tried to stop the president.

The president is known for not heeding anyone's advice. I suspect the reverse happened, that people unsuccessfuly tried to reign him in

I read the dialogue before I posted.
I think people like Mitch McConnell know how stupid Trump is and is easily manipulated.....or outed when it's time.

Mmm. If Trump was stupid he wouldn't be able to con and wiggle his way out of his problems all this time. He's ridiculously, laughably, void of basic decency and common sense that most people take for granted should be there - it's so glaring we have to laugh incredulously - but he's not easily fooled or he wouldn't be where he is. He knows he's doing the fooling. He may have met his match, but if so, he's had a long run of pulling wool over people's eyes before they turned the tables.

I personally don't think he's that smart....even this tape, no one with any sense would have spoken like that over a phone. His reaction to every crisis was abysmal and his promises unfulfilled....
He probably literally won because he had a TV show.... and America is overly obsessed with celebrities.

He has such a big ego he doesn't care how he sounds - to anybody - he needs to believe he's the greatest whether it's true or not - and he'll gloss over an inane or pathetic comment or walk it back with some other ridiculous idea/ comment.

It's his narcissism that compelled him to become a celebrity, seeking attention - not the other way around in his case. Whereas I think that some people become more narcissistic after they become famous, once they get used to the attention - but the attention wasn't necessarily why they became a celebrity. A good musician who would've played music regardless of whether or not they became famous but becomes a bit high on themselves, for instance. There are plenty of those examples. They aren't necessarily pathological narcissists. Trump is.

He behaves ridiculously - he has no common sense filter whatsoever and that doesn't concern him in the slightest because he thinks whatever he does is golden anyway - he may be delusional but he's not stupid. A stupid person can't get a sizeable portion of 75, 000, 000 to believe he's their messiah, no matter how stupid we may believe them to be. He conned and manipulated his way into one one of the highest seats of power on earth, leveraging all his failures and mistakes and scandals and business scams and appearances of status and control (regardless of the truth), into attention, every step to the top - quite obviously to most - and he was unstoppable. That's not a stupid person. He is a (sinister) clown though. Clowns aren't necessarily stupid either. Even his devotees are wising up now, though - too little too late, but better than never.

In my curious but non expert opinion.

He's a fascinating case, as an intellectual exercise, as a study in personality cults, even as comedy material - the problem is real the power he has to do harm. He's already done plenty of harm to democracy, he's thrown the world for a loop. I don't think former Pentagon officials would be issuing a joint statement if they thought he wasn't terribly smart in his own manipulative way, though.
I think this article about his past behaviour helps explain the recent phone call:

I laugh to stay sane and not let fear take over (as best I can) - but I don't think he's actually stupid. Thank God he is funny, unlike past dictators. But that doesn't mean he's harmless.

His impulsivity and narcissism does make him vulnerable to listening to those who worship and adore him. I imagine he has sycophants feeding his delusions and telling him he's right. This is different in my mind from advisors who tell him what to do.

I think this is a big part of the problem, though I don't think he actually has self-confidence. He needs to be the bestest and biggest and smartest to compensate for his perceived weaknesses. Now he's tasted what he considers absolute power, he won't want to give that up easily. As we have seen. Plus Biden is a man who presents as being kind, having empathy and caring. Those are all characteristics the president apparently learned to despise. How then could such a weak man beat him.

As for the phone call, he's doing what he's done as a businessman - trying to make a deal. Of course it's very possibly behaviour that has attracted the attention of people who investigate these things since it is likely illegal. I noticed that he sounded a bit desperate in the recording. For what it's worth

Trump having a full blown narcissistic crisis isn't a very comforting thought. I guess it's better late than never for some of his inner circle to finally defect from him, and for officials to speak up. They sure let it go for a long time, though. Most of the world has been speaking up for 4 years. Maybe they expect all politicians, everyone in their general field of work, to play dirty - and being immersed in dirty politics, they couldn't see clearly that Trump really is in a league of his own.
