Oh technology - not favoured by me today. Did a 'critical update required' thing yesterday on my laptop - ended up in looping BitLocker hell. I needed a recovery ID # - which they would text to my cell phone. Except I recently got a new number (the old one is gone) & hadn't changed the number in microsoft. The things you don't think of. Sheesh. So - I went in & updated my phone number from another device - only to find this then results in locking all the security stuff for 30 days! Unfortunate confluence of events. My brilliant neighbour IT guy came over this morning to see if there was a work around - but no. So - as some of my files are resident in that computer, I didn't want to wipe it & start over. It's now mothballed until January ... when we shall try again to get the recovery ID number. Sigh. So now I'm tethered again to an older desktop - and I'm grateful to have that option at least. Enough lament ... now back to my knitting & enjoying the beautiful snow outside the window!

oh, that is tough, @Carolla. I ended up in a similair boat but luckily still could get to the other phone #, though, i had to get a sim card, and get it installed in a phone, but, i got in.

The things that we don't think of.

@Pinga - silly question just occured to me - as my laptop is 'on vacation' for the next month - do I need to keep it plugged in or turn it on periodically (to torture myself with seeing the blue screen!) Or is it fine just sitting there unplugged?

Had similar experiences ... with AI that is supposed to make life easier to tend with regarding context! Complexity grows as we reach towards the goal of simplicity ... and the clash accelerates! Some call this the conflict of absolutes against abstract ... the abstract being dark, mysterious and incomplete in our head ...

ET's oude there ...

Thank goodness for the simplicity of teapots and coffee makers, no security codes, no sending access codes to cell phones, etc. All is ready at the coffee cart. Enjoy.

You've never been cornered by a pot that believed it was intelligent? Some POTUS do not even have to be taught the difference ... cause they have no alter belief as alter awareness ... there simply is no other!

Thus that passes inspection ... the virtually unseen? (expect few to observe closely the de tailing ... sometimes seen as de briefing)

This may incarnate as rye truth ... transparent ...

Thanks. I heard four cups of coffee a day is the optimal amount for health benefits (offset by lack of sleep, at least in my case), so a virtual one is welcome. Being the slow adopter I am, I am going to have my very first Zoom appointment today.

Unknown stimuli????????????

It may creep as sacred plots and conspires ...

My sympathy on the computer woes. They can be a huge source of stress. All coffee pots aren't trouble free though. We recently had to buy a new one and it makes lukewarm coffee!! It seems totally weird to pour a freshly made coffee and promptly put it in the microwave. Of course it is more expense and hassle that it is worth to return it. Rich people problem I guess.

Just signed up for a part-time contract for the first 9 months of 2021. The nice thing is, i find the part-time work gives me a good balance. I can heavy load it in january, and take time through may / june.. As it is a flexible 50% contract, it lets me be a grandmother, gardener, baker, church volunteer and better spouse.

My funny story for today. Just about dusk (just before 5) hound and I went for walk. We had a few inches of snow last night, dampish by this a.m.

As we're walking through the park, I come across this charming "snow head". The picture attached does in no way reflect its actual charm. And the funniest thing is that as I'm trying to take a pic of it, I'm simultaneously trying to convince Lucy not to pee on it.snow head 2020 fall.jpg

Happy Birthday, Seeler!
