This is the other side of the story from the BBQ owner's position ...
So it looks to me like the BBQ owner doesn’t want to shut down his indoor dining and compares himself to Costco still being open? How many people sit down in Costco and take their masks off? He didn’t even know that the Costco food service has been shut down to indoor dining, only take out is possible.
Maybe he should put his energy into finding a way of providing take out.

I think in Toronto and Ontario the issue for restaurants is that they are singled out and shut down. With no evidence they are spreading disease. They have spent money ramping up safety protocols as asked and then shut down

where is the proof. And I have to agree with them. Our little ballet school has been shut down. A non profit endeavor. Has been using strict safety protocols. Has had no infections. But here we go. Shut down. For no reason other than numbers. But none of the numbers relate to them

so I get the frustration

On a personal note it has struck my family. My cousin in Europe has died over night. A Vet. Very careful. No contact But still caught it some how. picking up groceries I guess as he didn’t leave the house other than that

Do we know that? How does one track the asmyptomatic carriers? What we do know is this virus likes humans as the host and gatherings are like a smorgasboard.

Two screen shots within a video that I am watching.

CTV NEWS 5 days ago ...

One screen shot was ...

CANADA COVID-19
10,947 DEATHS

The next screen shot was ...

LONG-TERM CARE HOME
DEATHS 10,781

I am still looking to see if I can find that actual broadcast.

I don't follow the numbers closely ... thought maybe someone else could verify if these numbers are right or not.

That doesn't support your comment that there has only been 170 covid deaths.

Any info that dismisses the people with underlying health conditions is twisting stats. Many with underlying conditions would have lived many more years if they had not gotten covid. Plus, death is not the only consequence of this illness.

Sorry to hear that but of bad news. So far my only family scare that I know of is a nephew's son in the UK. He recovered with little difficulty.

Please accept my condolences.....my prayers are with you.

It's sucks when people who are blase often have little consequences and then those who are careful have such bad outcomes. Condolences.

Sorry to hear that Lastpointe ... but at the same time I appreciate that you can at least still understand the restaurant owners frustrations at losing their livelihoods ... nice to see someone here is willing to give an inch of critical thinking ... even in the face of their own inexplicable loss.

Any info that dismisses the people with underlying health conditions is twisting stats.
Any info that dismisses all other causes of death and underlying health conditions not related to 'the virus' is ignoring all other stats in favor of hyping up the threat of 'the virus'.

Remove your pet virus from the stats and substitute with another common denominator such as pneumonia or flu ... same stats.

Stats can be manipulated to whatever bias desired.

As you were quick to point out earlier obesity is not always a cause of poor diet ... and yet without it ... people would live longer lives ...

Here's a closer look at seven conditions that are linked to being obese or overweight:

How would you manage this pandemic ... lockdown the 3 out of 4 that are not obese.

Nobody said there has only been 170 deaths.
What is being said is that the 170 deaths were not related to LTC homes as all the rest were ... why are all the resources not being directed at the LTC homes instead of at testing and policing of the rest of the population that are not at significant risk ...

Fighting to have a barbeque during a pandemic and wasting the time of police.....yeah really important.
So simple for you to approve of fighting to have billions of people 'tested' for the profiteering of 'testing' enterprises ... and at the same time disapprove of ordinary folk fighting for their personal livelihoods.

Is Ford suffering any losses... probably bought stocks in vaccines and testing and PPE enterprises ... because ... he cares about the 'vulnerable'?

and wasting the time of the police? Exactly ... there was no good reason for the police to be wasting their time there ... other than ... the rules the rules the rules of the rulers that are gorging themselves on the tax payers tragedy of the commons.

What have you had to give up to follow the rules?

What could they take away from you personally that would make you not agree to follow the rules?

Lots of things....family visits, thanksgiving, more income, PPE, on and on....
You?

Health experts are suggesting that the population control strategies have done more harm than good. Here is a comment from the World Health Organization’s special envoy: “We really do appeal to all world leaders: Stop using lockdown as your primary control method.” From another perspective, epidemiologists from Harvard, Oxford and Stanford co-authored “a declaration against lockdown measures, expressing concern about physical and mental impacts of the policy.” THE EPOCH TIMES newspaper/Nov, 2020
