Novel Coronavirus

And oh my dear goddes, I do badly with arrows. (In my defense, don't love cities set up with lots of one-ways, like Hamilton, or Peterborough. I'm sure you get used to it, but...)

So claiming a medical exemption for non medical masks works?
So you would say you had a medical exemption just because you don’t want to wear one, and potentially put staff like Bette, other customers in the store, and possibly yourself, at risk? And even if you were sure you were not infectious, you would set that example for others who might be - by being defiant?

In BC we have had voluntary mask wearing everywhere (except maybe on the bus? There are signs up now, but I wore my mask on the bus before there were signs up). If it becomes mandatory, to slow the spread if infections start climbing again, I am not going to argue against it. It’s becoming habitual now anyway, and it’s not a big deal.

It does.

And I say nothing. Except that in my opinion (with substantiation), there are two exemptions (for short term use, long term may be a bit different): i) a skin disorder on the face that a mask would aggravate (this would be, generally, third degree burns, in which case, why are you out?), ii) a severe psychiatric fear, a phobia, again, pretty rare.

But again, opinions, so I say nothing, but do what I'm told, which is to wear a mask while I'm working. We all get better at these things. I've discovered that the pleated masks fog up my glasses, and if I can't see, I end up crying. The shaped ones that dip underneath the glasses are good. Quilting-quality cotton is good; polyester bites, hate ear loops because of glasses, but ear savers make them too tight, so I like tied ones. What you wash them in (organic castile soap), and rinse them in (white vinegar, not apple cider) makes a difference.

I see burqua type arrangements (which I'm considering for the fall, when it gets colder), those neck things, the odd face shield, some bandanas, the odd mis-shapen t-shirt...

So you would say you had a medical exemption just because you don’t want to wear one,
No I would not say I had a medical exemption ... I might say I have a self exemption or I might say nothing at all ... If for whatever reason I wanted to stay in the store and get what I 'needed' there ... I would put on the mask. You just don't get it do you. Forcing a healthy person to wear a mask just because you can ... Wrong.

Once infection rates go up...and masks will help keep them down...how are you going to know for sure, everyday, that you are healthy? What if you feel healthy 2 days before symptoms show up, but you are actually contagious?

I get it. You don’t get with this anti mask initiative you are promoting means that others will voluntarily not wear masks and end up infecting others - forcing healthy people to get sick...because someone’s virus doesn’t end at another’s face. And you support that.

How Did I Catch the Coronavirus?
For the majority of the nearly five million COVID-19 cases across the United States, the point of infection is unknown.

So let my story be a parable. Even if you wear a mask, wash your hands frequently, and social-distance, as you must, you might still contract this disease.

Why make it more likely for you and everybody else?

@kimmio ... I pretty much stay home ... when I do go out ... even though I don't wear a mask ... I am considerate of other people's boundaries ... be not afraid. Have a good nite!

It's not as bad if you live in smaller area where there are no infected people. If you lived in a place with high rates of infection - like some US cities, the argument changes. But even in a small town one person could start to spread it to several and it would be back to the same argument - masks help slow the spread and by not wearing one you are encouraging the spread.

How's Australia doing these days with the COVID?

Oops -my previous long post disappeared - sorry about that....

Apart from the two states with the biggest populations -NSW and Victoria - we're doing very well.
NSW could still develop into a second wave - but Victoria is in a bit of a mess. The last week they have been in complete lockdown -and no other states are admitting them across the state borders. Biggest areas of concern are nursing homes for the elderly, schools, Aussies returning from overseas and health workers. By far the most deaths have been elderly and three quarters are in Victoria. Total deaths in the whole of Australia 331 - which isn't too bad overall..

It is WHO's job to promote public health, and get the word out, you know. This announcement is not a big revelation or proof of something sinister.

I never said it was ... it is a wonderful maskairaid party ... that was your invitation.
Here's my favorite so far:
