What fine?
And why the sarcasm?
I have heard that there are fines up to $5,000 in Ontario where masks are mandatory.
The sarcasm is because this is not about you, it's about others.....and if you're proven right about the masks it didn't hurt anyone including yourself but if you're wrong.........

I am honestly not following your logic. If you don’t want to wear a mask to potentially protect others then don’t. But just like seat belts don’t expect to be accepted everywhere

there is not a conspiracy to make you wear amask

now when a A vaccine becomes available that is a different topic. Should you? Would you? Can the government mandate it? All decisions still to be made

"Now, some Swedes are beginning to question the strategy, and other countries are managing eased lockdowns without a second wave."

Are the Swedes questioning the strategy ... being forced to follow the strategy?
Well traditionally I believe Swedes approved of most of their government's decisions about most things.....but with the COVID fiasco, that approval rating has declined due to the fast spread and death rate.

The reason masks are mandated in places with high infection rates is because arseholes, such as yourself if you were an asymptomatic carrier who passed it to someone, are not voluntarily wearing them enough. If people were voluntarily wearing them in public more often than not, it wouldn’t be mandated! First businesses tried to ask customers to do it, and a**holes refused and made a fuss...so they made it a law. Because of people like you.

It's a pretty big stretch to see mask wearing as virtue.
What happened to the non-aggression principle? Isn’t not wearing a mask in public, in places where the infection rates are high and resources are low - what if you were asymptomatic - is that not as aggressive as an invisible punch? Even potentially much worse?

Guess you don't like this one then ...
A Chinese man's left lung has collapsed after he jogged for two and a half miles while wearing a face mask.

The 26-year-old resident, known by his alias Zhang Ping, was rushed to the Wuhan Central Hospital on May 7 after he became breathless and started suffering severe chest pain.

The doctors found that Mr Zhang's left lung was punctured and shrunk by 90 per cent. They believed the condition was caused by the high pressure in the man's organ due to the fact that he carried out intense exercising while wearing a mask.
Lol, Wuhan, you say- chances are he might have had Covid earlier this year? Or maybe he was a smoker? Or both? Spontaneous collapse of a lung is possible, especially in people with lung disease. If he has had covid, maybe he should have taken it a bit easier. As it becomes more and more clear, covid survivors, even the ones that didn’t have to go to the hospital, continue to have long term symptoms.

Or maybe ... wearing a mask outdoors for exercising is just a bad idea Period!
It is most likely not necessary unless you are in close proximity to other people.
But maybe he was wearing a red shirt that caused his lung to collapse. There has not been enough research into how many people who get collapsed lungs are wearing red shirts. I think we should avoid red shirts when exercising.

I never said there was. I said wearing a mask, like getting a vaccination, should be voluntary and with informed consent. Just as not frequenting establishments that have a mask mandate is voluntary ... and I voluntarily do not impose my unmasked face on anyone that finds such a face offensive. I do not shame people that do wear masks ... and I do not appreciate being shamed because I choose not to. If and when you can prove that I have infected anyone with my 'non compliance' that would be the time to criticize me and not before.

You are standing up for the crowd who refuses to wear masks, and infects others - so you are encouraging not wearing a mask. A mask optional policy will not work as long there are those that don't. And your support of them creates the necessity for a law to be put in place.

I listened to Ice T on Marc Maron's podcast. His father in law caught it. He was an anti-mask guy. And it was either him or another anti mask guy who spread it to his family. He said, "I can be as gangster as I want but my gangster isn't going to do anything to stop a virus - I'm not scared of you (who he was referring to - the anti mask guy) I'm scared of your infected breath!...and he said he doesn't care about where it came from - it's real. And we have to deal with that now. We can look back later at where it started - but we have to do something about it now - so who cares about all these conspiracies.

Score!

So optional means mandatory?
No optional means everybody volunteers because it's the right thing to do. If people want to dispute common sense science that says masks will limit ones aerosol particles from infecting others - they are putting public health at risk. When enough of a chorus of people get vocally defiant, refusing to do their part to help stop the spread - and they show up in public spaces to shout their aerosol around about it (I think you see those people as defending your rights, not putting others in harm's way) - then the mandatory laws become necessary.

In my place of business, we are required to ask patrons to don a mask, offer them a disposable one if they don't have it. If they claim "medical exemption", we are to drop it, and move on.
