I remember somewhere up thread, I believe it was @revsdd , said that Trump will have to leave if he looses no matter what happened. I read somewhere, that with the ongoing protests, he could declare it a cicvil war and state of emergency laws and keep going , maybe even avoid elections- anybody knows the possibility of that?

He can't. The Constitution clearly says that the President must leave office and new one sworn in on January 20 (or him sworn back in if he wins the election). Obama wasn't sworn in until January 21 for his second term but that's because the 20th was a Sunday. There is simply no way to legally bypass that. And the President does not get to decide when the election happens either. It's written in law so he needs Congress on side to change it. With the House controlled by the Democrats, that ain't gonna happen. So, basically, any attempt by Trump to remain in office past January 20, 2021 without being re-elected is effectively a coup d'etat. And is not just @revsdd saying that. I have read several analyses that say the same thing.

He's an impeached president. If an impeached president does that - even suggests he might do that - isn't he sort of on probation and would need to be fired and leave his job immediately? I've heard calls for that.

He was impeach (like 'indicted') but never convicted, thanks to Moscow Mitch and his farce of a "trial". (The House of Reps brings charges, but the Senate conducted the "trial") So 'Impeached' is a badge of dishonour that will forever be on his resume.

Isn't this grounds to pursue a quick indictment? Isn't a public comment from the president suggesting he might commit election interference, itself election interference? It's threat (joking or not) to the election.

I would think so. I thought his blatant violations of the emoluments clause in the Constitution (using the office to line his own pockets; like holding international meetings at his own hotels and resorts, profiteering thereby) would be enough to convict him, but many just turned blind eyes and deaf ears to what was going on. What Trump did with the meetings makes PMJT's involvement with WE look like a sandbox dispute.

Kimmio, realistically, and just prepare yourself for this, the U.S. may suffer another 4 years under a GOP presidency.

Trump University was known to be a fraud before he was elected and he sailed right through that, too. Nothing sticks to him.. If I were to believe there's a real Satan - it would be someone just like him. Too many smart people have sold their souls to him. JT is just a human who fell into the temptation of not following protocol before granting a big contract to a non profit youth organization he likes.

Nothing sticks to him

didyou see the CNN clip of a woman asserting that the pandemic wasnt his fault and no one could have done any better

you want to shout at people like that to open their eyes and see the world. They don’t have to look very far. Look at us. We didn’t do great but compared to the USA?

it must be the alien DNA that causes thing to not stick to him

i can believe he could get re-elected. it is nauseating but possible

Isn’t it funny how he tries to differentiate between absentee ballots which you mail in, and he does all the time, and mail in ballots

both are requested by the voter and MAILED in.

If Caesar can jump the rubicon ... and slaughter senate to rid of the old W*man wisdom ... can Jesus draw a red line beyond that? That's in the sans ...

It is said that Caesar screwed all the Senators and then started on their mates ... a Centurion loving their soldiers beta than the camp belles ... the story altars ... Freudian Slide ... 1:100 rule!

What sort of slime ... allows a fish to slide through dark pools ... federal ponds? God does have a sense of humour ... and birds are raised --- John Lewis shines!

Some need to be preached to, prayed over, etc. chicken hawk? The sol situation is sacred ...

There's nothing to stop Trump from declaring a state of emergency. But states of emergency don't actually supersede the Constitution and both the date of the election and the term of office are dealt with by the Constitution - the Constitution gives Congress the power to set the election date and the succession mechanism and the 20th amendment sets the term of office. What Trump could do is create chaos if he were to declare a state of emergency and start to use some of the emergency powers he'd have - I mean, even more chaos than he's already created. But to fool with the election he'd presumably be taking on Congress, the Supreme Court (which seems to have at least a 5-4 majority ruling against his more outrageous acts, and even in one case Gorsuch and Kavanagh - whom he appointed - voted against him, making it 7-2) likely most state governors (except, perhaps, for a handful of die-hard Trump loyalists) and the military (whose leadership in recent months seems more willing to openly oppose him.) But, yes, he could create chaos. I think that's more of a worry after the election. If he loses, then I doubt as a lame duck president he'd suddenly start acting responsibly and in the public interest. I think he might well be inclined to just burn the country to the ground in revenge for being defeated.

Yes, and a lame duck like Trump would likely be doing a lot of quacking between November and January.
