Wondercafe Participation

Welcome to Wondercafe2!

A community where we discuss, share, and have some fun together. Join today and become a part of it!

@Seeler I would love to see you, of course, and Mr. Seeler. You could even stay here, would be happy to host you.

There is no need for apology. I get it. We each have our things. We each have our feelings. You are articulate as always, and passionate, and yes, sometimes we both are known to spill over with a quick response.

My awareness is that wondercafe, a strong support when dealing with items in the past, and no longer was. that was a loss to me.

I also am aware that i grieved for crazyheart. I was aware that she was not well from back when pilgrim was planning on a visit (can't recollect that date), and i had suggested an idea to crazy. Crazy had to decline and told me why. I regret never having met her, but, realize that it is the norm of online communities, and shucks, even my workplace wehre I had global friends that i will never see.

As for the conflict between you and Chansen mentioned in your recent post; I don't think I was aware of it at all. Again, my fault in not picking up on subtle clues.

Hah, to be fair, I didn't know that there was a conflict between myself and Chansen. I wasn't happy about his actions of bringing stuff into wondercafe2 from Facebook, or vice versa; however, I actually did not realize it was personal until today.

I laughed at Richard Bott's exchange and applaud Richard's navigation of that issue. I think it shows also the respect that is held for Richard.

I agree. I also saw the exchange as a mutual respect thing. Chansen does have a unique sense of humour. I miss that around here.

What was this thread about? Wondercafe participation? Well seems like we may have lost two posters, perhaps temporarily. I hope not forever. Start threads that speak to your passion?

Kimmio did not leave because of this thread. Redbaron posted a warning about her stereotyping of boomers in another thread and she took it badly.

Yes, I was aware....@Kimmio it may be more appropriate create your own post about your concerns. We already had it locked for going too far off topic once.... :)

Maybe sometimes we aren't sharing a common vision or cause, and that results in disagreement. It is an art to accept another person's point of view, to forgive and to apologize according to the situation. I am sad that Pinga left, (happy that you are back), and sad that others find the need to vocalize their departure (is that a form of blame?) I have, unwittingly, hurt others in the past...on-line, and in real life. When I have been made aware of it, I always say...'but you know me...You know that I would never intentionally hurt you. Let's talk about it." Just to be clear...there are times that I have knowingly hurt someone, but that's a different story.

I've been thinking about this last statement of mine....about knowingly hurting someone. The knowing part is true, but I don't do it for the purpose of causing hurt. Instead, I have hurt people because of a particular cause or opinion that is important to me, and I know that my expression or action is going to cause hurt...but I NEED to do it. This has happened so often in my position on the board of our church camp. I try to say things kindly, or reasonably, and finally I just dish it out rather harshly. And sometimes the harshly is what finally gets listened to.

I won't miss the mods acting like petty arrogant pricks when they want to impose their will, even when they don't make sense - they're just ganging up.

This community is too small to be doing that. It's not very open minded. Pretty soon it'll be just the council and a couple of people who only come for one or two threads.

Can you give an example of a mod doing so?

Go over to the covid thread and see northwind, red baron and mendalla's purple posts.

It's only one example. There are many. Mod priveleges, even a little bit of power - creates this power trip and gang up culture here. It always has. Quite frankly, you set that tone quite a bit, are part of creating that culture (imo) and I hope you'll reflect on that.

That said, I even feel sorry for Jae and hope he's okay. Like him or not this has probably been a bad time to be shut out of social interaction with people he "knows". Jae can be a nuisance. He's also a vulnerable person.

I've been following the COVID thread and I find myself agreeing with Kimmio on this. The posts she made that were removed were relevant to that thread. They were about the potential abuse of COVID for political purposes. I think they belonged in a thread that was supposed to be about "anything" (from the opening post) related to the novel corona virus - it didn't specify medical or health issues. Relegating some of her posts to a Conspiracy thread is essentially saying they shouldn't be taken seriously (and while I don't entirely agree with her I also don't think her comments deserve to be smeared with a "Conspiracy" label) and sending others to "Extinction Rebellion" (when her point was that the Alberta Energy Minister was quoted in an article saying that the pipeline industry should take advantage of large protests being banned right now because of COVID to get moving on their pipelines) put it in a thread that I wouldn't think of going to to find posts of that nature. Those decisions should, in my humble opinion as "not a moderator anymore," be reversed, or at least they should perhaps be put into a new thread clearly titled "Political Considerations of COVID" or something. But what was done to them was unfair and doesn't - again just in my opinion - facilitate discussion or participation on the wider site - thus making my comments relevant to this thread.

I have made a recommendation to Council re. the Novel Coronavirus thread. I am done with the matter now. It's in the mods hands whether they act on it.
