Novel Coronavirus

My landlords kind of have to be down here to do that though. Chances they have active covid are quite slim. Chances of ant infestation keeping my roommate up at night until the problem is resolved - much greater, and therefore a health and safety risk of its own.

So far, no ants in my room or in the kitchen. I do get the odd spider, though.
Bummer. Do you plan any lifestyle changes once the lockdown is lifted? I plan to stay in for a while longer.

Hope the ant problem clears up. I’ve gotten rid of regular ants several times using a slightly moistened mix of sugar and borax. The sugar attracts the ants, the borax kills them. Might not work for carpenter ants though.

There’s a story at NYT about finding out how long the coronavirus has been circulating in the states on the west coast. I found the comments interesting. Readers in the comments describe bouts with some awful respiratory illness that sounds suspiciously like Covid. It’s just anecdotal but interesting. The first antibody tests are coming out, so things should become clearer.

Just when trump can’t get any stupider he does. Wondering about injecting bleach and high dose sunlight

so now we will see people dying from injecting bleach and burning in tanning beds

Address this ... are there limits on stupid ... at some point?

Due to licentate ... I am not allowed to address this vocally ... thus that faint scrathing ...

I honestly don't understand why he is allowed to continue saying these things.

Because the people who try to shut him down get fired or sidelined. The man isn't interested in hearing anything but his own voice and ideas. Which is why he is absolutely the last person who should be running a government in normal times, let alone a global health crisis. Real leaders take information and advice from the team members who know the stuff and facilitate things so those team members can act on it. They don't make s**t up or listen to fringe voices. (And before you ask, yes, that's how I run my department. My job is to know who can do what and who has what knowledge and get them to work with me, not to try to be the guy who knows and does everything).

He really does seem to think he's still running a reality TV show. This seems more like some perverted entertainment rather than anything resembling leadership.

Fools rush and condemn those that stop, look and listen to what happens to the hubris ... as they blow it!

Thus Caesar was stopped in a Pall and the entire thing burned with curiosity about how that fell ... like eprine as a cure all! Of course it is the base of many things ...

I expect that all of his life, as the boss, he has mused out loud about ideas. And the sun ooh ants around him have said. Good idea sir. To steaks, to trump university........

so he is used to musing aloud. And he is stupid stupid stupid

but now, his musings are dangerous. How crazy when disinfectant companies have to issue press releases because people have been calling to ask if they can inject or swallow......

and of course now he says he was just being sarcastic. No way, if you watch the clip

I would imagine that before release from quarantine they are tested - but I don't know.

My daughter was tested in AB before getting permission to be 'normal' . Needless to say she could hardly wait to hug her hubby and kids! Not sure how it is going to play out as there are five of them cohabiting, and three are going to work at least part of most days. We cross our fingers and hope I suppose. They are in a pretty bad area - High River.

I'm not sure this particular issue has anything to do with my lifestyle. Why do you ask?

Yes, it certainly is a bummer! I have to do a bunch of physical work on their behalf to get ready. And I have to pass the landlords' storage room to get to the kitchen. Once they start moving stuff away from the walls, they will likely realize they should've cleaned it up a long time ago, when there were no tenants here - and I predict that my stepbrother (landlord) will be down here for weeks cleaning and reorganizing it. They live in their own world - they don't mean any harm but they don't think outside their world.

As per your question...I get it. I want to move back to Vancouver after covid is over. I don't like it here much. I came back for temporary respite after my separation, and got stuck with no means to get out of here. This town reminds me of The Good Place. Lol. It's been that for me since I got here. A kind of pretty purgatory where random nuisances and other disruptions to the peace keep happening, with frequency.

So glad your dtr is home with her loved ones again - and yes, sure hope they all stay well.

AFAIK Five Oaks is working with the local public health authorities who inspected their premises once ready & gave approval for quarantine housing status; so I'm pretty sure they will be on top of determining status of individuals at release time, and likely monitoring during quarantine as well.
