JRT -----Your Questions -----
If some people will be tortured eternally, which is apparently the will of Satan, how is Satan a defeated foe? Doesn’t eternal torment make Satan a partial victor?

• How can there be “no more tears” if some people will be tormented forever?

I say and give my view ---to the first question -----how is Satan a defeated foe?

My view ----
God created a Garden and then the first Christ Adam was created then the first woman ----there was to be-- no tears --no disease --no sickness --no chaos ---and No Death -----as when God breathed into Adams nostrils He put His Spirit and soul in him and God did the same with Eve --Spirits and souls don't die ever--God is Spirit and He has a mind--- will and emotions which is what the soul is God never dies and we are made in His Image --if you believe in the Scriptures if you don't believe that you are made in God's image then your view will be different ----only peace and harmony and total Bliss was in place in the Garden ---Adam and Eve had a personal relationship with God ---and God held the keys to His Kingdom

The Blessings were in Place here above -----Deuteronomy 28 gives you the Blessing

Satan comes along and deceived Eve and she influences Adam to disobey God and this stops the peace --harmony and Bliss and the Blessings ---it brings in --Separation from God which stopped the Blessings ---- Sin --and Death ---disruption --chaos --sickness and disease --and the Curse ---

The Curse is also laid out in Deuteronomy 28 ----
-
- So Satan takes what God had put in place --Satan is now the keeper of the keys -----until Jesus comes into the picture and dies and gets the Keys back from Satan and brings back All that God had in the Garden with the first Christ and his wife Eve -----Jesus breaks the chains of Sin and DEATH

I say -----and give my view to your second question ------How can there be “no more tears” if some people will be tormented forever?

I say -----your quoting Revelations 21:4 about ----A New Heaven and a New Earth

New International Version
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death' or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

This is the first part of the scripture you quote ------

Revelation 21 (NIV)
A New Heaven and a New Earth
21 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,”[a] for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’[b] or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

6 He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. 7 Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. 8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

I say
So this refers to the people who come through the 7 year tribulation --and have received Jesus in their hearts -------this is not for all people ----only believers according to scripture enter the New Heaven and New Earth -----now this will cause a storm here I am sure but that is what the scripture says ----

You can be preserved in a number of ways --- drying, salting, smoking but I much prefer getting pickled.

Try mummification. I've always wanted to be a shambling, bandage wrapped monster.

Natra monis! Then in Eritrea salt was a potent item of exchange as it is in the synapses! Forbidden knowledge as one is not supported to get into the head zone ... even just for perverse waking actions! Neural connections ... ganglial reaches into the world of small ...

Don't entirely get this.

If we are a conventional Christian, death holds no fear. We will be in a better place, etc.

If not, then presumably, we believe in being reabsorbed into the great Nothingness, a drop of water into the eternal Sea.

Either way, don't be afraid. Love is stronger than fear?

Fear of how we die probably greater than fear of actually dying.

Looking at how Covid-19 plays out fatally it strikes me that all the times I have heard friends and family express wishes for how they want to go nobody opts to die alone and intubated in an ICU ward.
