Spent some time earlier on video chat with my cruise ship daughter. It was a bit good news/bad news actually. She is confined to her cabin with a cold - drippy nose, sore throat, no fever, no chills, no aches and pains. She is bored - can't find her charging cord for the tablet that has books on it. No internet access during the day. Nothing fascinating out of the window - just a dock and rain. She caught me up on her 'work; since getting there - so far quite simple. Biggest challenge was setting up a commercial sewing machine without any sort of manual. I'm not sure I could even thread a machine without clear directions!

I came back from Zurich into Toronto yesterday. Weather/ airport runways were bad, so we were delayed and sitting on the runway for 90 minutes before being towed to a gate.
There was quite a bit of sneezing going on in the plane, but one elderly couple from India sitting across from me in the other isle, was really obviously sick, coughing and spitting into tissue, often not covering their mouths. It was disgusting at this close proximity. No matter what virus that was, I wished that they would not let people that sick on planes. Then, in preparation for landing, all the staff suddenly showed up wearing masks. When we finally docked, they made everybody stay in their seats to” attend to a medical emergency” and walked a family, all with masks, out of the back of the plane to some medics waiting at the gate. Not sure what that was, but watching the couple across from me hang in their seats and cough, I was expecting them to be attended to. Do I panic? No, but as someone working in a hospital, it would be good to know the potential of spreading something to the vulnerable.

You have to wonder what they were aware of in a world that inclines to knowing little as it is best for the conscience. If you know even the smallest bits of intelligence ... bury it as the authorities especially would like to avoid it!

This is the nature of fear in causing the mind to spread wings and take off ... no need for processing IT here dear! It is enslaved ... or otherwise confined as thought!

Maybe a monster (chimera) concept ... too big for handling! Thus the chimerai squirm ...

With increasing tempo the media have been stirring up fear. That fear being a key factor in the practice of control.
The media is good at stirring things up imho. Although I believe businesses will suffer from this fear and the economy will start to hurt with the increase in cases from this virus. In that case I think politicians will try to down play the risks involved. Less people flying and traveling will have its effect on the economy which seems to trump everything else in the world. The number one thing on politicians minds these days is the economy imho and when it tanks then the s**t will hit the fan. You do the math.

Who knew the virus would be good for the environment too :sneaky: ......

Indeed. So why all the 'global' panic around this newly named 'flu' ... ?

at this point I think the panic is on several fronts. And I think it wrong to describe it as “Flu. “

Unlike the seasonal flu, they don’t know if it will be seasonal or not. We could be stuck with it
they also don’t have any sort of vaccine for it, yet. We can all get a flu vaccine annually
the flu has a 0.1% mortality rate.
this virus, currently has a 4% mortality rate. That is very high
the rapid spread of it around the world seems to imply that the virus is very contagious which likely means it can live in a hard surface for a long time
the issue raised in the last few days that it may transfer to pets is worrisome

but in the good news front, it isn’t an airborn infection. That helps a lot. Things like chicken pox spread just by being near someone. This is surface contamination. So you do have the ability to protect yourself by not touching things, and not touching your face. And thoroughly washing your hands

it also means that the sudden rush to buy face masks is really quite silly. Paper face masks have a short life span. And it isnt airborn so you won’t inhale it

i am not sure why though our health minister added to the panic by suggesting people start stockpiling food and medicine. That seemed to be very foolish

a big issue is going to be the lack of goods as things stopped getting shipped. And the big hit to tourism as people stop all traveling. Either through personal choice or government orders

Surprising to see sick people on a plane like you described. And that really should never happen. The financial issue is tricky though. You are on vacation. You get sick. Your flight is tomorrow. If you miss it you pay a huge fee for a one way flight or you pay a moderate fee for a change charge. and what about your getting back to work

all of these things account for why people travel and go to work sick exposing others to their health issues

one good thing for me when I worked was we couldn’t work when ill. It was NICU. You were either healthy or off sick. It did make for lots of scheduling issues getting substitute nurses but at least you never got sick from people at work. Of course you got sick from people on the subway on their way to other jobs

In a pub today with several ministers ... it was expressed that the possibility of all the confusion was by anti American powers getting even with Trump for his ass in 9 behaviours!

I even suspect Jesus was there as a curse to those without scattered thoughts against Rome 'rs ... running against the darker mysterious powers!

Its a sticky river ... with currents and eddies ... edification of the fluid spirits ... whine from the turbulence ( illuminating fulmination)?

The outside world is trying ... stix it to the POTUS! Those supporting him have pore understanding ... a minimal passage ... like Robert Service's expressions in the dark ... large mysteries!

Expect creameries ...

A supply shock is when there is disruption to production of goods and supply of services – such as shops and factories closing down.

Monetary policy cannot keep them open.

Central banks around the world would be all but powerless to mitigate the economic effect of so much business grinding to a halt, according to the Bank of England’s deputy governor Jon Cunliffe. “If it’s a pure adverse supply shock, there is not much monetary policy can do,” he said.

My daughter is the 'Strategist of Retail Sales and Services' Tiber River in Winnipeg ... shortage of supply from China is already detrimentally slowing their production.

Unlike seasonal flu so far the panic is around 2,595 deaths (which may or may not be related to this 'new flu') in China and 23 elsewhere.

And seasonal flu?

According to estimates by US CDC and Prevention, it has caused between 291,000 and 646,000 deaths globally a year.

To put it another way, if the number of deaths from coronavirus rises a hundredfold in the next few weeks or months, it will only have reached the lower bound of the estimate for existing strains of flu.

How many of us wear face masks because of winter flu? How many planes and trains are cancelled? Does the stock market slump?

The 'new flu' death rate is now around 1 per cent or less and it is mostly killing people with pre-existing health conditions.

Anyone else would be very unlucky to die from it.

As far as a vaccine goes ... WHO is on Orwellian target with their SDG's .

It would be helpful to have a general overview of the health of the patients thus far and their respective reactions to the virus. What was the overall age and general health, prior to contracting covid-19 of those who recovered fast vs those who had secondary complications vs those who died (and more specifics on what variables need to be present for it to be deadly)?
