It's hard to believe but I have been part of the wondercafe/ WC2 community for eleven and a half years. Where does time go???

It has taken me a while to make this decision but the time has come to move on.

I have started to find many of our conversations repetitive in nature & I know I am repeating myself as much as anyone else.

My initial motivation in joining WC was to discuss my views on progressive Christianity. I have been greatly enriched by the various conversations we have had on this subject and many others. In recent months, facilitating the threads about the synoptic gospels was quite rewarding. . . frustrating at times but definitely worthwhile.

On the more lighthearted side, I have had great fun playing word games, racing for LAST place and drinking virtual coffee every morning. And I have enjoyed reading about the ups and downs in the lives of our members.

I imagine I will still check in from time to time but I don't expect to be posting. Not unless the United Church makes another of its *ahem* interesting decisions. :)

Wishing you all the very best.

So sorry to see you go. I was looking forward to your Bible reading threads in the fall and your wisdom and grace on other threads. Its people like you that have nade WC2 so important to me. Icheck in every morning.

Thanks very much @Seeler. I have enjoyed reading your posts over the years and I wish you well.

It was my intention to carry on with a study of John's gospel in the fall, but I decided against it after finishing the Luke thread. Facilitating the bible study threads was very satisfying but extremely time-consuming.

Maybe someone else will continue with John. :)

I would recommend placing it in the Study Groups forum rather than R and F. It just takes a little time to prepare the OP and seek moderator approval before getting started.

It has been discussed in Council so may even be taken up by one of us. We did agree that since summer tends to be a "low season" on WC2, we would wait until September regardless. Likely not me as I am not sure that I have the time to properly bone up on John (not just read the Gospel, but get some insight into current scholarship on the subject), but we shall see.

You've been one of my favorite posters over the years on both boards, @paradox3 , and will be missed by the admin ape for sure. You have a lot of thoughtful insight to post. Even your posts on a certain former minister of yours reflect thought and insight as much as sadness over what happened. You will always be welcome back should you choose to do so. If not, best wishes.

I will also miss you, P3, our races for last place, the discussions on the Gospel threads (often fun and often frustrating, often eye-opening and often eye-rolling). I do hope you'll check in once in awhile, and let us know all is well.

I'm sorry to see you go too P3. I've enjoyed being part of the board with you. I've enjoyed your contributions and thoughts. All the best to you. I hope you stop in for visits now and again.

Thanks very much for your kind words, @Mendalla!

The feeling is mutual, for sure. I have enjoyed reading about your life and your spiritual journey during the years I have "known" you on both boards. It has been especially interesting to hear about your experiences with Unitarianism and your recent foray back into Christianity. FWIW, I suspect you have stepped off the Christian trajectory but will always be heavily influenced by it.

Thanks very much for your work on behalf of WC2 and for your deft administrative skills. You make a big difference in the life of this place.

You have pretty much nailed the nature of the conversations on the Gospel threads! Thanks for your participation there and for all of your support. Be well.

Thanks very much Northwind. I have enjoyed "knowing" you here and have appreciated your contributions a great deal. Your openness is refreshing and I wish you well with your health.

Keep on knitting!

I might stop in for visits, who knows? I will see how it goes. Maybe I will change the description under my avatar to "WC alumna". :)

I wish you all the best, hope you will pop in once in a while.
The place is getting smaller and smaller unfortunately and I find myself participating less too.....time to get back into more real world activities I guess.

I fully understand your reasons for leaving. To a large extent I share them and have significantly cut back on my involvement here as well. Your posts were always interesting to read, and I thank you for them and wish you all the best. Blessings, Steven.

Thanks Waterfall.

I, too, find our community shrinking but we are in our usual summer slump right now. Maybe the pace will pick up in September.

I definitely hear you when it comes to pursuing more real world activities. :)

Yes, I have noticed things have been quieter at your end recently.

Thanks for your kind words, Steven. I have enjoyed your posts as well and have appreciated your insight on many occasions.

Maybe I will actually make it over to Pickering Village UC for a visit one of these days. :)

Yes, there comes a point when there just doesn't seem to be anything new left to say. I occupied myself with moderator duties for three years and once my term was up there just didn't seem to be much else going on that was really interesting me.

As for a visit to PVUC, you're always welcome here!

I'm going to miss Snoopy :( and that cute little face popping in for a game or offering her considered opinion. I admire you even when I don't agree with you. Like as has been said, the door is always open.

Will miss you P3! When you do pop in I think most of us would appreciate if you drop a quick post about what you're up to :)

Oh, no, we are loosing another OT.. I have enjoyed your contributions and wish you well. Maybe there is a time for everything.
