I truly don’t understand the abortion debate as it is playing out now. Fear of abortions late in pregnancy is a truely ridiculous fear

As others have said, women get late in pregnancy abortions for very specific reasons. A fetus that is incompatible with life, a mothers health at risk, a dead fetus that hasn’t spontaneously aborted and now is affecting the mothers health. There are really no other reasons for a late abortion

The uproar over this is ridiculous

The heart break for parents, who discover around 30 weeks that their baby has no head is terrible. The subsequent heart break of deciding to terminate the pregnancy is terrible

The heart break to discover your baby is dead at 30 weeks. But your body won’t miscarry, or spontaneously abort. And now you ar getting sick

These are sad, serious issues. They are infrequent. They may or may not result in the need for an abortion. They also are sometimes dealt with by inducing early labour. Also a terrible situation. You are 30 weeks, your baby is dead, your body won’t miscarry, you are getting ill. The decisions is made to induce labour. You labour for 14 hours knowing you are pushing out a dead, macerated fetus

These are not easy situations. And they are best left to parents and medical personnel to decide.

Not sure if you are asking me. But that is not the issue. Yet. That’s a hypothetical, like what would we do with 65,000 new refugees. A different bridge to cross.

The issue is killing babies because you don’t want them. I am not talking about having to carry dead babies or medical emergencies.

I am talking about killing babies because they are the wrong sex or just inconvenient.

If you came home from work and noticed your neighbor on his front lawn trying to hack his son/daughter/they to pieces with a shovel because he no longer wanted his offspring, would you go take the shovel out of his hand and stop this really late term abortion, or would you go in your house and let him do it because you don’t know what to do with the unwanted kid?

This whole discussion has been grossly simplified into two "issues" - third wave feminists and innocent babies. It does disservice to the complexity around unplanned pregnancies, or pregnancies in general. Suggesting women are getting late term abortions frequently is twisting information on this issue.

If in fact women are getting late term abortions because of finances merely because they find a baby inconvenient, I would like to see stats to support that apparently ridiculous statement.

Of course, both women and men should be considered equally. Unfortunately, many discussions about abortions seem to come down to demonizing women.

That's part of the plan. Make it difficult to get an abortion, and by the time a young woman can jump through the hoops, whoops, it's too late.

By tying lower taxes to anti-abortion, the net result is a smaller social safety net, increasing the demand for abortions. It makes no sense.

If you are truly anti-abortion, you should be pro-sex ed. You should be for paid maternity leave. You should be for funding therapies and research for autism, Down syndrome, and other conditions or disorders. But we don't typically see that. We see political parties who are against abortion rights make cuts to social programs and healthcare funding. I can't take that seriously.

This is an incredibly sensitive and complex issue. Leaving it to the physicians and pregnant women is the best solution. Made illegal, it will be driven underground or across borders, costing more lives. Safe, legal, and rare. That's what it should be. Instead, we get propaganda, demonizing one choice that some women are forced, or feel forced, into making.

But, hey, tax cuts for the wealthy.

I can see why it could be viewed I am demonizing women. Hopefully you can see by my other comments that I do not hold one sex accountable.

Regarding late term stats. They are probably nonexistent. Because stats tell the truth. I ask you to rent the Gosnell movie. I read the book.

You can get it on iTunes.

Basically, it is illegal to do late term abortions, so they falsify the records to make it look legal.

Gosnell just happened to have a weird fetish to save feet and kept cadavers that were too big and well developed.

He is not the only bad guy in the story. The movie is based on court transcripts.
