One winter, I had the ultimate snow service. For $100/month, he not only did driveway, but also steps and front porch. Now, for $499 a winter, a guy with a plow cleans out to behind the farthest car, as there's now two. Not really worth it, probably. Except if you get get a major dump or two, and the plows go by...
 
We have an ergonomically sensible snow shovel. Hubby uses it. Should he be unable, or unwilling to continue this chore I would cheerfully pay a younger person to do the job. Last year a teenage indigenous kid did it a couple of times He has already reminded me that he is still earning money this way!
 
This is probably the 4th time I have shoveled this winter, but I probably moved a much snow this time as the others put together. Cleared the drive last night, then the plow garbage (as I call it) this morning.

Yes, I still shovel though my back and joints are starting to hint that's not such a great idea. Problem is that I have no place to store a blower without leaving one of the cars outside (garage is a double, but a small double).
 
We used to have a snowblower. After doing battle with it one day hubby sold it, figuring that if he takes his time with an ergonomic shovel he can do the clearing manually. When that is too challenging we will hire a younger back.
 
A neighbor across the street was using a snowblower early today. Looks like less effort than shoveling but still a lot of heavy work.

Yeah, the guy next door got his out last night and promptly had a struggle with the engine. He's a retiree, though, and didn't have to be anywhere today so decided to just leave it until this morning. I didn't have the luxury since one of my cars was due in on a recall this morning.

(PS. He is also in stunningly good condition for a eighty-year-old. This is the first time he's had it out this winter. He's been hand shovelling up until now.)
 
I bought my husband a big John Deere snowbloer a few years ago. We had a very long double wideway, plus, a normal driveway. I figured that we weren't getting any younger, and though he is very fit, though boys would be leaving.

With where we are living now, I am thankful that we made that purchase earlier.
 
I am TIRED!! Shovelled twice yesterday and for a long while this morning again. So much snow!! I thought my art class would perhaps be cancelled this afternoon - but no ... so off I went ... no rest for the wicked as my mom used to say! The afternoon was beautifully sunny, but temps are dropping rapidly tonight & though the next few days. Our "Chase the Chill" project is this week - so we'll be out either tonight or before dawn tomorrow to tie 150 scarves around the community - they will be appreciated I am sure!!
 
I was to go out tonight with a friend, but the combined cold and snow have made us decide to reschedule until next week.

Today found me spending the afternoon baking & cooking while the snow whirled outside.
cabbage roll casserole (not great), cornbread muffins (ok for with the casserole), pineapple-bran muffins -- ok , oatmeal chocolate chip cookies (son likes them). The muffins were from a small cookbook that I haven't used before -- will try one or two more recipes from it, then give it away -- just not yummy.
 
There are both ice packs, and the packs which can be warmed in the microwave for those who have slipped on the ice.
 
I can't say I miss the snow. Stay warm friends. We're enjoying lovely sunny days. That means it cooler, either side of zero. It is a nice change from our last winter in northern Alberta.

Yesterday, while watching the news, we saw that a relative was in the news related to financial improprieties at a business.
We have not seen them for a while, but do chat on facebook on occasion.

The news was not good, and in the court of public opinion, it was potentially quite bad.
Ugh.

i reached out with a message acknowledging we were aware, and that we were here if they needed anything.
Not sure what else to do.
 
In Toronto I had a nice, big, ergonomic, snow shovel. There's been almost no snow here in Korea this year. Even if there had been white stuff, snow plows would have cleared it.
