I don't think I will ever become tired of Elf on a Shelf

My sister has one of these and her family seems to enjoy the tradition. Personally - I never got into it - seeing it as just another marketing ploy.
 
I find it a bit creepy actually. Glad it wsnt out when my kids were little. The concept that they are being watched 24/7 in their own safe homes just feels inteusive to me

Well - in my family we were always told that Santa knew if we were being naughty or nice - and I imagine that the kids in most families that shared in the Claus myth were told same. The smart thing some brain trust did was to introduce a middle man - the Elf.

I sent this to Chansen but he didn't respond. I was unaware that Atheists didn't like the elf.

I agree with Jae, not that much different than Santa. He sees you when you're sleeping...
It can be taken too seriously, but I mostly see people having fun with it.

The difference would be that Santa is a treasured - decades-old myth - whereas Elf on the Shelf is just one corporation's cash-grab.
 
No Elf here-although growing up a did have an Elf-exactly like this one. But that was well before Elf on the Shelf became a THING. He was just a toy.
Yes it's one of those things that once you start it's hard to stop. Who needs one more thing to do evry day before Christmas?

That said yesterday I was in a Kindergarten class who had just started Elf on the Shelf.
 
I guess it feel different from santa as there is this character right in your house spying. I know that people try to be creative. Honestly seems like alot of work
 
Does anyone have other fun ones to share - whether it's showing some elf love or is something like Hilary's link?

lol I can promise you I won't be moving it around! He can sit nicely under the Christmas tree if I get one as a gift.
