How important is this issue to everyone here?
depends on the person, a nonbeliever will have to discredit it, a believer will support it. Nothing new really, its been going on for 2000 plus yrs

Jesus came to inaugurate the Kingdom of God on Earth.
Seems to be important enough to talk about it in church every Christmas without offering any alternative thinking for those who dont buy it.How important is this issue to everyone here?

You paint with far too broad a brush.depends on the person, a nonbeliever will have to discredit it, a believer will support it. Nothing new really, its been going on for 2000 plus yrs
I am a beleiver in God and try my best to follow Jesus teachings.....I feel it is my duty to God to question some scripture.you make no sense, walking into a church as a nonbeliever, you already have the other alternative

I consider myself a believer. I do not, however, 'support' this doctrine.
You may want to ponder the nuances and study the issues more closely before you pontificate again.

Numbers 23 :19......sorry paradox I know its not scripture from Mathew
I'm a seminary graduate. I have studied Scripture. I continue to study Scripture. I do not make up my own theology.it's not what you consider yourself to be, its what God calls you to be,
you might wanna study scripture more deeply, or feel free to make up your own theology, a lot of people do it , your no exception

Perhaps you shouldnt take the verse out of context and study how the Jews interpret it rather than Got Questions or other sites determined to ignore various Jewish interpretations for the same scripture. After all the OT was read and studied by Jesus also.um glad you quoted Numbers 23: 19, God does not Lie,
meaning Gods Spirit IS Truth
and your pastor Blackbelt?so was Nicodemus

Agreed. But I think it is clear that Jesus was calling for a higher standard of righteousness than the Pharisees were demonstrating. Maybe He thought the Pharisees were distorting ancient Judaism.
