I'd be surprised if this kind of behaviour was news to anyone. It's straight out of Animal House, which was a "comedy" based on reality. But the "brotherhood" - the entitled attitude and fraternity culture - sticks up for one another.

While this is true, there is that perception of young men run amock, it isn’t fair to taint him or all men with that brush. That is what we should not do. If he was a person who tried to assault this girl, exposed himself to a girl, participated in threesomes, then it will come out. Not everyone is willing to risk lying to the FBI and the senate.

I remember there being a lot of elite popular young men run amok - they set the standard (my high school had a boys club who called themselves Execs) - and a few good ones. No, they were not all out assaulting women, but jokes about assaulting and mistreating women, and which women were "hoes" that could be easily taken advantage of and dehumanized...and mocking and sneering at women...pack endorsed emotional abuse regarding sexuality - that was all quite common. The Renate Dolphin yearbook thing is typical of that. Even I had heard the FFFF expression. I only remember boys saying 4 F's, not 5, but just as bad. Maybe they weren't all doing it, but they thought they were 'cool' to say it. Given that, it doesn't surprise me that there are men who like power who may have done more than joke about these things.

Can some types of angels put men into a blackout condition ... especially if those men have no fire of cognizance on their own? Humans are strange critters ... some with superhuman ectoplasm ... some not! Supports diversity on one scale or another ...
Can be frustrating for some that believe one should learn better functions ... and yet there are foundationalists that are totally against science, observation and light of intelligence! Thus large dark zones ... occult regions? There are funny icons and scions ... like griffons in the moonlight ... moonlighting?

As I understand it the FBI investigation is restricted to the accusations of Ford and - somewhat surprisingly, actually - Ramirez. (I assumed it would be the Ford accusations only.) Since it's not a criminal investigation, but a background investigation, the FBI has no power to ask for search warrants or to subpoena witnesses. Participation in the investigation by witnesses is completely voluntary. However, if a witness does participate then it remains against the law to lie to the FBI under any circumstances. That would be essentially the same thing as perjury in a courtroom or lying under oath to a congressional committee. But why would anybody lie? If there's something they don't want to share with the FBI, just don't talk to the FBI. (Although it would look kind of suspicious if all sorts of people just flat out refused to co-operate. Then it would be back to "what are they hiding?")
For what it's worth, though, I think (unless there's something really groundbreaking that someone is going to reveal to the FBI investigators to report to the Senate) this works to the advantage of Kavanaugh and the Republicans. Without the FBI investigation I think a handful of Republican senators (especially Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska) were really on the hot seat and might have potentially voted against Kavanaugh's nomination. Now they can fall back on the FBI investigation as cover and say "well, it really didn't reveal anything new, and nothing's been proven," and vote with their Republican colleagues. As I said - barring a huge surprise revelation, I think this virtually guarantees Kavanaugh's confirmation, which is why, in the end, Grassley, McConnell and Trump agreed to it.

I think you're right. This will hurt the Republican Party at the polls. But for big business, the support for a couple of decades of a Supreme Court justice is worth it.

Another bizarre case of stockholm syndrome. Masses of the oppressed completely depending on their criminal enterprise oppressors to mete out justice through the legislation that the oppressors dictate in the first place. I have to wonder what it will take for some kind of world wide epiphany to occur. Look at Yemen ... 18 million people very likely to die of starvation before the end of this year ... why is that not on the news every day all day? Look at the politicians ... no matter how good you want to believe them to be ... in order to be a sucessful carreer politician ... to be confirmed as a candidate for any position of real power you pretty much have to have the ability to look somebody directly in the eye and tell them bare-faced lies with absolutely no remorse. If you can not do that you are not going to be confirmed as a likely candidate for retaining a position of political power. They all serve the same agenda - they all work together - to keep the masses believing that you need to look to them for authority. It is so freaking frustrating.

Which would be the case with any nominee from this administration who could pass this Congress. That has nothing to do with the Ford issue. In fact, big money might be better served at this point if he quietly withdraws his name and lets someone less controversial take the seat.
