We got many pets in the last few months, but some have died.
We have about 7 neon tetras, not sure the exact number. We started with 9 and at least 4 have died, some have been replaced.
There are 3 tequila sunrise guppies, had 4 but one died.
One darwf clown plecostomus
One snail, plus many unintentional ones - chemguy has been good at killing them, but I think there is still one in there
7 golden barbs
4 blue diamond guppies, the ones I got to pick out
There were 5 ghost shrimp. One got eaten within a few hours. Others lasted a few weeks but we can't find them now. They are either really good hiders or have been eaten.

Loved having fish.

Never could keep a plycossmus (sp?) alive.

Our aquatic frog lived till he was eight though.

I don't have pictures, but the 4 I picked out look a lot like this guy.

The plecies are usually pretty hardy. When we had fish as a kid it was the last one surviving. I think their lifespan is something like 10 years. You need a big enough tank though, they grow huge and limiting their growth isn't healthy. That's why we went with a dwarf one, and it's still a fair sized tank.

Our frog was very territorial and would head butt any fish that got too close to his ship.

Right now we are pet-free, except for occasionally visits from our granddog or grandcat when they need to be 'sat' for a few days. I always hate to see them go home.
Over the years we've had a Springer Spaniel, a Shishu (for a short while), and a Lab who was the prototype of what a dog should be. It's been over ten years and I still miss her.
We've had various cats - Tawny (my daughter got him while in Brownies in order to get her pet-keepers badge - she couldn't handle our Spaniel) and he was still with us when she got married.
- Nichodemus - found abandon as a small kitten - lived with us for thirteen years - never bonded. I'll swear that cat was autistic
- Tina - came home with our daughter when her first marriage failed
As well as numerous hamsters, gerbals, white mice
My son had a fish tank at one time - various species. They thrived until we had to give them away because we were moving (3 provinces in winter). We replaced them for him, but he never had any luck in the new location.

We are currently down to two.

This is Rose (above) our Terrier/Lab cross. She turns 13 next spring and this is an older pic. She currently has quite a bit of snow around the nose and eyes. She was the runt of her litter and likely would have come to a bad end if we hadn't agreed to take her in.

Is Lily our Hound/Lab cross. What kind of hound? Not certain her markings are very similar to Rhodesian Ridgeback although she lacks the characteristic cow-lick. Lily is 8 this coming December. Lily found her way home as the result of my wife and daughters showing up at the SPCA and asking how they could help. The intent was to provide funds for food and other necessities. The people at the SPCA played dirty and said that what they needed most was for somebody to take these dogs home and Lily was a stray picked up off the street at roughly one to two months of age.

Rose's pic is pretty faithful. In fact she was pretty upset I decided to have a nap yesterday. Apparently I was on her bed without her express permission.

Lily's pic is unusual. Not because she is sleeping but rather because it isn't one of her more usual and awkward positions.

Both have been helping me weed the yard in their own way this weekend. Rose made sure to interrupt me at work to let me know that her bowls were empty and the weeds could wait. Lily made sure that the sweat on my brow didn't get into my eyes, not that having her drag that sand-papery tongue across an eyelid feels much better.

Hmm, my first dog was a co-cker spaniel, when I was about 4. Her name was Taffy due to her colour.

Dogs were co-cker spaniel, part border collie, and peek-a-poo - first one a male, last two females. Cats were a variety of colours, all males.

No pets at present. When growing up, we had a cat (born in our basement when I was 4 and died when I graduated library school at 24) and a beagle (who was with us through the eighties).

Beloved, hah, we have the same issue.

My first dog was a co-cker spaniel named Taffy, when I was about 4yrs old. She was a good friend. We had her until quite late in life.
When I was on my own, I had a cat that was an alley type cat, or two. They were well cared for. The one was an outdoor cat and was disappointed when our neighbourhood lost a number of cats in the same time. Turned out someone was poisoning raccoons and other critters. I didn't have an outdoor cat again after that.
I next was gifted a Himalayan beauty named frankie. He hadn't adapted well to a new baby in the previous families household. He was gorgeous. All was well until a few years later, when I started dating my husband and he was over. The cat urinated on his clothes and items. I thought that I had it managed, then we moved into our house. My husband went away on vacation and whilst he was away, I discovered the cat had sprayed his entire record collection. I quickly rushed down to the record store to figure out what to do. his advice -- get rid of the cat . Yup, cat was soon gone to a new home who was made aware of the challenge

The next pet we acquired was an 18mth old yellow lab. She was wonderful with the kids, though had bad habits which was why they were getting rid of her. We broke her of all of them with the exception of being a garbage hound. No recylcing bin or open garbage container was safe in her midst.
It was hard to lose her. She died of cancer at a ripe old age.

Now, we have a wonderful springer spaniel. I think our best pet yet. Definitely a wonderful dog. Smart, friendly, lovable, playful....and the right size!.

We also have had two inside cats for my son. The first I wrote about when we had to put it down due to crystals. The current one is antisocial ;however, is good with our son.
