Is Ontario headed for another Wynne win?

PC majority is no surprise. It might be a little bit stronger majority than I expected. From what I've seen of the popular vote the Liberals seem to have held steady at about 20% and I've said all along that if the NDP was going to have a chance to win the Liberal vote had to collapse to about 15%. Didn't happen.
 
Happy for all the major parties.

The PC's won a majority government.

The NDP becomes the new official opposition.

The Liberals held on to official party status.

The Greens won a historic first seat in the Legislature.
 
The NDP momentum stalled about two weeks ago. There really hasn't been much movement in the polls since then. That was around the same time that some of the "controversies" about NDP candidates started to hit the headlines. Personally, I didn't think Horwath handled that very well. When she was hit with several of them in a short span she seemed - to me at least - a little dazed and uncertain about what to say. And, frankly, I think the whole Renata Ford lawsuit issue worked to Doug Ford's advantage. I thought he handled that very well and might have picked up some sympathy vote.
 
Four more years of Ford family drama and four years of trying to dumb down education. Yay.

Well, at least the child rapists in the Catholic and other churches get their wish to keep little kids ignorant about their bodies.
 
I feel that the true winners of the election tonight are Ontario's little school children. Thanks to their parents' votes, they'll soon be able to focus on such subjects as math, geography and English rather than the new sex-ed curriculum.
 
The most embarrassing part of the whole result is that the voters of Ontario have elected a party that didn't even present a coherent, well organized platform. Some vague promises with little suggestion of how their promises would be paid for. The $6000 tax credit for day care/private school tuition will be a disaster for public education in this province if he actually does it because the money to pay for it will surely come from the Education budget.

Maybe the money will come when they stop funding certain curriculum.
 
Seemed kind of ungracious for Ford to start his speech and pre-empt Kathleen Wynne. Like her or not she's the Premier of Ontario and deserves the chance to speak live to the province. Not an auspicious start.

Did the Liberal Party not show Wynne's speech on Facebook? I feel those who wanted to hear her speech had opportunity.
 
I told my daughter that soon, the younger grades in her school may not get the sex education she did.

"That's okay, I can teach them!"

We may literally be hoping for the bright, older kids to teach on thecplayground what the teachers may not be allowed to.

Tragic that those who oppose the health curriculum (and who had the right to choose to exempt their children from it) want to take away the right of parents who believe the curriculum is important to choose.

Judging by the election results, the majority of parents are just fine without their little kids being taught about sex in the classroom.
 
I don't think the sex ed issue was a major issue in the campaign. In fact, I don't recall it ever being mentioned. $1 beer, yes. But no sex ed. The only place where it seems to have been an issue is in your head.
Of course, I could be mistaken.
