Great Big Sea - more like Great Big Tsunami stranded on a whaling boat singing sailing ditties.........

You say that like it's a bad thing ...

And one of your country's favorite sons, actor/musician Russell Crowe, is pretty much a honorary member of the band. He's friends with Alan Doyle and they've written songs for each other and Crowe got Doyle to take up acting (resulting in the odd event of an Aussie A-lister appearing on a Canadian domestic TV series, Newfoundland-based detective series The Republic of Doyle).

Thanks Mandella. We'll definitely have to pick up The Great Big Sea. Too bad we can't have Stan Rogers join us as well (I prefer his version). Unfortunately he was killed in a firy plane crash at the height of his career. Maybe he'll be with us in spirit.

My son and I occasionally watch the Discovery series Mayday about plane crashes and how they are investigated. One episode covered that incident and ended by mentioning the loss of Rogers. Definitely a sad day for Canadian music, though his brother Garnet and son Nathan have been working hard to keep the Rogers name alive musically.

Kay, The Last Saskatchewan Pirate. Whoop. My favorite. I hope everyone is watching the Arrogant Worms.
Beloved, find Jesus Brother Bob.

And low and behold, guess who I found curled up in the luggage department. Rob Ford. Party guy himself. I guess he wants out of Ontaro.

Is Ron Ford a brother of Rob Ford? If so, we've got to find a way to ditch him or he'll try to take over. But we have to be careful - we don't want him for an enemy. I understand that can be dangerous.

I was afraid of that. Right now he isn't making any fuss. I think he's fallen asleep in the back seat as we head along the highway towards Lake Superior. Looking out the window at the rugged countryside. And there - I just caught a glimpse of the Lake.

I hope we didn't miss anybody in Ontario or points east. If so, make a wish, cross your eyes (uh oh - your fingers), click your heels and you are here. This is a virtual bus.

The rugged countryside North of Superior - Group of Seven territory (or was that further east - north of Superior reminds me of some of those paintings).
Stopping at the lake head, ThunderBay area. Anybody joining us here.

We stopped for gas awhile back. Rob Ford stumbled off and in to the washroom. I quickly signaled everybody back on, stopped pumping, through some virtual money on the counter and took off. Let's hope there is another service center down the road where we can finish filling up.

Promise - we won't leave anyone else behind.

Just connecting some more dots.......
LBmuskoka and I were walking down a street in St. Johns, Newfoundland when we were stopped by this guy with a sign. He told us they were filming The Republic of Doyle and would we mind crossing to the other side of the street?.......
We Aussies get about!

About the singing...... It's just a personal choice - I've never been a fan of the type of folk singing that's often accompanied by the singers cupping their ear as they sing (earhole music!) Give me Joan Baez any day.......

Too bad the bus is heading West, otherwise I would be inviting Allan Hawco of Republic of Doyle to join us. He's HOT! ;)

I'll stick with my lumberjack.

Passing around some marinated fiddleheads, and some homemade wine.

We've passed Lake of the Woods - some very interesting history and geography around the lake - more islands than the Thousand Islands in the St. Lawrence river; a longer shoreline than Lake Superior.

Heading out across Manitoba. We'll be stopping near Winnipeg to pick up pizza. Maybe, in the interest of time, we'd better phone ahead and order. What do you want on your pizza?

Look up at the sky tonight. Do you see a plane flying west? That may be carrying Pinga on her way to BC. We'd better hurry to get there for the picnic on Sunday. People in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta - be ready to climb aboard as we pass by. Crazyheart, are you ready?

The plane is sitting on the tarmac awaiting a mechanics review and i am back in the pub drinking wine.

Hope you're a good 'plane sleeper' pinga! That wine might help.

Seeler - do you think we might steer the wonderbus back to Toronto for an appearance in the World Pride Parade? Then zip off to Van for the wondergathering??
