TRUMP - Some people think......... How do you feel?

The reality is that World war One has never ended. It was fought so that established economic powerhouses - like Britain - could shut down German competition which had been growing rapidly since German unification in 1871,

Nor was our side made up of sweethearts. The British empire was brutality, murder, plundering, imposed starvation in a measure that has rarely been matched. Britain did not fight Germany in 1914 because of differences. It was because of similarities between the two.

The US which had built its own empire - and one as unsavoury as any in history - stayed out for quite a while because it was waiting to see what it could pick up.

World War Two was really a continuation of World War One., and fought for exactly the same reasons. This time, the U.S. hung back for a while because it's eye was on China - and the more recent wars against North Korea and Vietnam were really related to the U.S. big business obsession with conquering China. And that has meant that all the wars since World War One have been the same war.

Our papers always blend our enemy as 'evil' but, in reality, they are no more evil than we are.

The U.S. did manage to displace Britain (which is now the servant boy for American wars). But it has not managed to be the effective empire builder it aspires to. I see no reason to believe it can sustain a conventional war with even a third-rate power.

And the clock is running down. This is what makes a Trump eager to use nuclear weapons.

But Trump is not the cause of this. The U.S. was corrupt (and deluded about it's role in history and it's future) long before Trump. Trump is the product of a society in collapse, not the cause of it. He is not a bigger disaster than Bush was.

We have allowed our countries to fall under the control of what used to be called a merchant class - a class of the greedy, immoral, and we have made them powerful in government. The danger is that they are greedy enough and stupid enough to risk a nuclear war.

Americans have no sense of where to turn as they live through this collapse. That's why the possibility is there of severe violence simply out of frustration. Their news media makes things worse because they lie - and they have lied since the advent of the modern, cheap newspaper about 1880.

This is really creepy. The WH Halloween decor was more cheerful. I can understand, Melania wants to be seen as chic, with modern decor - but her minimalist decorating scheme is way too bleak - add a few baubles, a bit of cheer, a bit of warmth at least - it just makes me think these people are the Addams Family. The haunted hallway of Christmas past? The Black Forest in the dead of winter? How jolly.

I thought Trump was all about ending the supposed "war on Christmas"? This looks like the day after a war on Christmas.

Remember...wasn't it Trump who weighed in on the fuss about Starbuck's plain red cups last year, or 2 yrs ago? They weren't festive enough?

Is this satire? Was 2017 all satire? How can anyone not believe in God when reality is stranger than fiction?

My Christmas decorations are minimal too - as in not very many - but far less depressing. I just didn't want to junk up my little space...less is more...but now I feel like going full-on tacky Christmas, hitting the dollar store - and just putting random Christmas decorations and garlands everywhere!

Maybe they're doing reverse psychology.

They can never turn this farce around ...

The problem isn't Trump. The problem is that American elected him. And the problem is the alternative choice was just as bad.
The American people are all wrapped up in a mythology of an America of individualism and nationalist superiority. They have no alternative image of what the U.S. really is or what it could and should be.

The problem is America. It's collapsing in the rubbish of its own corruption, greed, and phony history. The only question is how much damage will it do to all of us as it collapses.
